32 Weeks

How Far Along: 32 weeks. Only 8 more weeks to go!

…And doesn’t my chalkboard this week show the amount of energy that I have? Haha!

Size of Baby: This week, my app tells me that baby is the size of a large jicama. What the heck is that? Well, from the extremely knowledge and reliable Google, it’s basically a yam. So baby is the size of a large yam. I’ve seen some pretty large yams in my time, but I don’t know if I have ever seen a 3.75 pound yam. Hmmm.

The midwife says she is a petite one in there! She is measuring a couple weeks behind, but this is no cause for worry, and I still have the same due date. She just appears to be a little peanut…but there are many things that play into effect on that. The size of me, for one. And the size of Theo, for another (although that means nothing because he was a whopping 10 pounds at birth!). The position of the baby is another factor. And the fact that it’s ok for a baby to be small…just like it’s ok for an adult to be small.

Total Weight Gain: 27 pounds. Again, I’m working on making sure that I am not focusing on how much weight I’ve been gaining, and instead focusing on making sure I stay healthy. Between 20 and 25 weeks my weight really shot up quickly, but since then it’s actually leveled out a lot and to me that is encouraging. I know that I need to keep gaining, so that is a very good sign!

Stretch Marks: None yet.

Wedding Rings: I have had no swelling so far this pregnancy, and for that I am blessed! My rings are still on my finger, and they fit just fine!

Maternity Clothes: Yeppers! I have two pairs of shorts and a bunch of tanks that I’m living in for the summer. I also bought a dress to wear for our maternity pictures, and the next two weddings that I attend. Hopefully no one will be offended that I’m wearing the same dress to two weddings. You gotta do what you gotta do!

Gender: Our little girly!

Movement: Yes, and sometimes it hurts! She slowed down quite a bit as she is getting bigger and settling into a good position to be birthed (yes, already! Crazy, huh?). At my last appointment, the midwife showed me where her different body parts are, and she hasn’t changed her position much since then, although she does continue to move and push off my sides with her feet.

Sleep: Waking up 1-2 times a night to use the potty, and I cannot get enough. I woke up this morning after 9 hours of sleep, and I’m literally dragging myself around like I pulled an all-nighter. Sheesh.

What I miss: I miss playing sports! The other night Theo went out and played a pick-up game of soccer with friends from church. Normally, I would be right out there with them…but not now!

Food Cravings: Cantaloupe is my thing. We have to buy one every couple days.

I’m so hungry all the time. I mean…all the time. I will get something to eat from the kitchen, then when I am taking my dishes to the sink, I will stop at the fridge and grab something else. I will feel full for about 10 minutes, and then I need something else! It’s crazy how hard my body is working just to grow this little human!

Food Aversions: Still just those darned tortilla chips and ranch dressing.

Symptoms: Exhaustion and low energy levels, lower back pain, constant hunger…but overall realllllyyy thankful for the health of both me and the babe!

Best Moment This Week: Probably touring our birth center again last night. It gives me so much comfort being able to picture where I can labor and deliver the baby. I have to turn in a birth plan by 36 weeks, so I’ve been working on that…and that makes it seem so much more real and exciting!

Worst Moment This Week: The exhaustion and lack of desire to do ANYTHING. I could seriously lie in bed all day. We also had a little pregnancy issue, but I’ll spare you the details and just let you know that it all sorted itself out. For a couple hours I was pretty sure this baby was going to be born a preemie. That was fairly terrifying.

Exercise This Week: I had a mini scare as far as pregnancy goes (see above- I’m being sparse on the details), and I was told to lay low for a couple days and not exercise. So before that, I was doing great…getting in my 30 minute walk, bike ride or cardio routine at home. The past couple days I’ve restrained from exercise but I think I’ll start that back up again soon!

What I’m Looking Forward To: Meeting this girlie!, taking maternity pictures, having a baby shower, traveling for weddings and a mini-vacation with Theo!

And here is the impromput photo shoot we had taking our weekly photos.
