Happy New Year, everyone! It’s so crazy to believe that it’s already 2016!
We just got back from a few days up in Northern Michigan with Theo’s family. It was cold and crowded and there were TONS of children, but we had a wonderful, wonderful time with family!
I have been thinking through the New Year, and I just LOVE it. I love a fresh start, a new page, a turn of the calendar, a new number, a new chance at hitting some goals. I posted a few days ago about the goals for 2015 that I have accomplished. I didn’t accomplish very many, but I’m going to be working hard this year.
I just think back to who I was a year ago and how much has changed. Even if I didn’t accomplish all my goals, I have grown as a wife, a Mom, a Christian, and a person. I still have a lot of growing to do, and I’m looking forward to what this year has in store for us!
I love brainstorming goals, and when I came across this, I really liked it!
I sat down with my journal this morning and wrote out some goals for the year. I’m not going to share them all here, but I wanted to share some of them.
The first thing I did was categorize them into several different areas.
- Spiritual
- Marriage
- Motherhood/Family
- Physical
- Blog
- Home
- Personal Habits
I’ll share one 2016 goal from each of those categories:
- Spiritual: Build prayer time into a habit; pray for Theo and Tera on the daily
- Marriage: Help and encourage Theo in his job by packing his lunch and sending a note with it each time he goes to work
- Motherhood/Family: Create a loving and caring home environment for foster children
- Physically: Run a half marathon
- Blog: Have fun doing it! If it’s not fun, don’t do it
- Home: Host monthly game nights
- Personal Habits: Find a haircut I love and learn to do my own hair
I searched around for some New Year’s resolution prompts to get me started, and I really liked this. Feel free to copy it on your own blog or facebook page!
This year I will….
Quit: Caring so much about what everyone else thinks of me
Start: Praying before sharing
Visit: Florida
Accept: Our income level with a grateful heart
Honor: My husband in my attitude and actions
Make: More homemade items for my kids
See: a movie in theaters!
Give: myself grace when the days are long and my to-do list is longer
Eat: less carbs
Learn: how to say no
Have: a frequent laugh that my children can hear.
Be: a more avid book reader
Act: on the Holy Spirit’s prompting.
Grow: a garden
Invest: in rental property
That’s all for now! Happy New Year! I’m so very excited for what is in store for the Hines this year!
Love all of your goals! And that photo is awesome. I should save it. 🙂 I always want to be a more avid book reader but just can’t find the time. I see some bloggers reading 8-10 books a month…I’m lucky if I get one finished!
