Shop Feature: Bottles of Tears

Happy Monday and Happy 4th of July!

It’s actually been a little bit sporadic around here for my Monday shop features, and I apologize for that! I actually ran out of shop features and haven’t had time to contact my huge list of shops that I would like to feature! I am getting back on the bandwagon, but in the meantime I am going to feature a shop that I have absolutely fallen in love with. I think that EVERYONE needs to know about this shop, and I guarantee that you will also fall in love with it!

Bottles of Tears

Lindsey Wheeler founded Bottles of Tears in the midst of her own battles. After a seemingly endless undiagnosed illness, Lindsey was finally diagnosed with Lyme Disease. Unfortunately, the diagnoses did not bring much relief, and Lindsey still continues to battle chronic pain and fatigue on a daily basis. Lindsey and her husband have also adopted a beautiful girl from Gautemala who has many, many struggles and trauma. And yet Lindsey says this:

But, I refuse to give up HOPE.  I know that God has made me for more than just this sickness.  I want to love others even in my brokenness.  I think for a long time I was waiting to be healed before I would allow myself to dream.  Not anymore.  Bottles of Tears was birthed out of the many hours of my own tears.  Years later, I am just now realizing and am starting to grasp how much God loves me…just the way I am.  He doesn’t want me whole before I start to give of myself.

So, here I am friends.  I’m broken.  I’m in pain most of the day.  I am a mom to my precious adoptive daughter (who also has adoption trauma/struggles too many to list).  But, I’m here and want to pray for you.  I want you to know that you aren’t in this alone.  Let’s keep fighting!   God hasn’t given up on us.

Bottles of Tears is founded on Psalm 56:8, which says, “You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in your bottle. You have recorded each one in your book.”

So, what exactly does Bottles of Tears do? Well, it’s a ministry aimed at helping those who are feeling sad, hopeless, lost, alone or tearful. You can order a vintage bottle (found and bought by Lindsey herself!) or jewelery and send it to a friend who needs the reminder that they are not alone in their struggles. Each bottle or gift from the shop comes with a print of Ps 56:8! As Lindsey packs each bottle, she prays over each person who will be receiving the gift from her shop.

Here are some examples of items that can be found in the shop:

To me, this is a wonderful alternative to buying flowers. Everyone loves to get flowers, but sometimes we want to give a gift that lasts a little longer. These bottles, pieces of jewelry or prints can be set on a windowsill or bedside table, worn as a daily remembrance or even filled with flowers as a reminder that you we are not alone.

Do you love this shop as much as I do???
