#Write31Days: Day 12 The Daily Life

After you get through the first initial few weeks with a new foster placement, daily life seems to fall into place.

It may sound obvious to say this, but life with a foster child is pretty much the same as life with any other children.

It’s the nitty-gritty, the daily needs and issues, the joys and the sorrows of being a parent. It’s seeing them accomplish new things and take new bites of food and just being their parent in general.

Is there “baggage” in the daily grind when there are foster kids in the home? Absolutely. But I would imagine that there is also “baggage” in the daily grind when there are not foster kids in the home, too…am I right?

Each of our children have unique personalities and unique strengths and weaknesses. They all have sins and vices and they all have strengths and good qualities. Yes, foster children often bring not only their own sins and vices into the home, but also the ones from other people (that they didn’t even choose).

Tomorrow, I will touch a little bit more on the extra responsibilities that come along with children in foster care. Things like appointments, visitation, paperwork, and the emotional roller coasters. But for today I just wanted to leave you with two posts that I wrote in the thick of being a foster Mom. These were both “A Day in the Life” posts, and as you can see…there is not much added activity for me as a foster Mom compared to a biological Mom.

Questions?

If you have any questions at all about foster care or adoption from foster care as I go through this series, please don’t hesitate to ask. You can leave a comment or send an email. At the end of the series, I will have a Q&A day and will be answering any questions I receive throughout the month.

My husband and I are considering fostering in the future. To get a glimpse into the inside of it through posts like these is super helpful–and needed in this world. Thank you

Please let me know if you have any questions! I hope that I am giving an honest and helpful view into some of the world of foster care! I know that every case and situation is different because each case involves a different human being/family, but I would love to answer any questions you may have in your potential pursuit of fostering!

It really does get insane! What is even crazier is those who are fostering multiple cases at once- so they have everything multiple times over. CRAZY!

Please let me know if you have any questions about fostering! I would love to answer any that you may have, or direct you to someone who can answer them! I am passionate about equipping people who have a calling to foster care!

I had to go back and catch up with the beginning of this series and I love it! I want to applaud you and thank you for doing so much for these children. You are a wonderful person!

You are so inspirational and amazing for fostering! I used to work with foster children as a mental health therapist and there are so many challenges that come with the job!
