2021 Goals

Before I begin this post, I just want to clarify that I am fully aware that we are still in a global pandemic. I *know* with certainty that there are some things I just don’t have control over, and therefore some of these goals may never come to fruition because of events or aspects that are completely out of my control.

I also want to clarify that these are not resolutions. I am not resolving to quit anything or never do something anymore or even attempt to do something everyday this year. I am simply setting goals that I would like to work towards. This also means that not all of this list starts on January 1st. It means I’m stepping back and looking at the next 12 months and setting some ideas for things that I want to work towards in the next few months.

So! We ready for this, 2021? Here we go!

  • Memorize 1 John
  • Work on establishing a habitual prayer life
  • Lead a summer Bible Study
  • Run a half-marathon
  • Read 52 books
  • Run/Walk 500 miles (the tricky part of this will be tracking it!)
  • Spend 1000 hours outside (also tricky to track!)
  • Host guests at least 1x a month
  • Go on a family vacation
  • Go on a ladies weekened/Theo guys weekend/a couples weekend
  • Get together with my brother and SIL/SEE MY PARENTS IN PERSON
  • Work on limiting time on social media (turn off phone in the afternoon, no media on Sundays, one month off social media this year)
  • Write to our sponsored Compassion Child monthly (1st Sunday of each month)
  • Send a weekly card or letter (Sunday afternoon)
  • Publish my book
  • Get family pictures taken
  • Be a guest on 3 podcasts
  • Be intentional in building up our marriage
  • Continue to work at CHESS and build those relationships/community
  • Organize my classroom so I know where everything is and what to teach next and have it flow better
  • Make enough money blogging to cover the fees of my blog- about $200
  • Continue to manage 3 rental properties, perhaps add one more?
  • Complete monthly challenge
    • January- write a letter/card or personal email each day
    • February- spending freeze
    • March- 31 day workout challenge
    • April- daily hike
    • May- Marriage Challenge
    • June- No media month
    • July- Let’s Enjoy Our Children challenge
    • August- Bible Reading Challenge (no book reading, only the Bible)
    • September- Spending Freeze 2.0
    • October- Prayer Challenge
    • November- Photo a Day Challenge
    • December- Advent

It may seem like an overwhelming “to-do” list to some, but to me it is motivating and gives me some things to look forward to. If I reach the end of 2021 and just haven’t accomplished most of these, that is ok. But I will attempt to go for it!

Thanks for sharing! I love all the outdoor goals! I’m hoping to have a organized, habitual prayer life this year as well.

So many great goals! Cheering you on, and joining you in a few — especially the 1000 hours outside (did it and loved it in 2020!), writing our sponsored children monthly, and being intentional about my prayer life. I love the monthly challenge concept as well, as it seems like a great way to “try on” some new habits or routines.
