So Many Friday Favorites!

This week was packed full of so many great summer memories! I am absolutely just loving being at home as much as possible this summer. I don’t know where the extrovert go go go person in me has gone, but she isn’t here this summer. I’m a total homebody and it’s so unlike me, but I’m having a blast!

Let’s take a look at some of my favorite snapshots and memories from this week:

Sleeping under the stars…

The kids have been begging to sleep outside all summer, so we finally set them up on the trampoline. They were little bit scared, so Theo even slept out there with them. At 1:30am, I heard everyone stumbling back inside the house because it was really windy and they were COLD. Theo said the trampoline was shaking from the shivering. HA. I think they still felt like it counted as sleeping outside, and I was kind of glad that they came in so that they didn’t end up waking up at 5 in the morning with the sunrise!

Raising Capable Kids

It has been such a treat this summer to see my kids become more independent and capable. From being able to make their own breakfasts and lunches (they CAN, that doesn’t mean that they DO haha), to Tera baking on her own, to Kiah being able to do animal chores where I feel like *I’m* helping *him*, to Ezra learning how to mow the lawn…these kids really are amazing me every day. It was a lot of work to get them to this point, but it was so, so, so worth it.

Library Trips and Reading

We have one small local library in our town, but we actually have library cards to two other library systems that have a ton of branches, so we have been trying to visit some different libraries this summer. We always check out a lot of books 🙂

Camping and Alone Time

Theo took all four kids on an overnight camping trip. Which meant that I was at home BY MY SWEET SELF for about 20 hours. It was beautiful and glorious! I’m so thankful that Theo is such an active and involved Dad, and I know my kids will always remember the time that he spends with them. I’m also so thankful for little breaks here and there from being always “on”. I love my kids and I’m increasingly enjoying being around them, but man, if some time to just think a complete thought isn’t such a GIFT!

Professional Development

This week, I was able to dive into the spot in my brain that holds teacher things. I’ve being ignoring that spot for the past month, but it was time to approach it in a healthy way on my terms. I am reading a couple of books that were recommended to me, but I have to be honest that I’m finding more that I disagree with than agree with (in terms of classroom management, curriculum, etc). Still, I’m so glad to spend the time activating critical thinking so that I know why I think what I think and how it can be implemented in the classroom. And people say teachers don’t work in the summer!

Fishtail Bread

The other day while I was working on my computer, Tera asked if she could braid my hair. She has literally never braided anything before, but it felt good to have her brushing my hair. She finished up and asked to take a picture of her finished product and I was AMAZED!

Six Sweaty Miles

It’s been hot and humid here this week, so we had to run around 6:30 am and even then we were SWEATY! We are going to run our half together and both aiming to break the 2 hour mark, so we really pushed each other on this run. Six sweaty miles and lots of training work to do still before we can run the whole time at our goal pace, but I would say we did a great job!

Bike Day

Our church hosted bike day and a blast was had by all!

And that is a wrap on this weeks favorites! It’s hard to believe that the last week of June is fast approaching!
