Let’s Look at Pet Peeves!

Guys, this is just such a fun blog link up! Is it really bad that I found this topic so easy to write about? Yikes! Does this mean I’m a difficult person that I have so many pet peeves?!? Ha!

Here are some of my list, in no particular order…

  1. When I’m carrying a plate with silverware on it, and gravity just pulls the silverware off the plate. Does this happen to anyone else? My husband swears it’s just me and he never has silverware just hopping off the plate onto the floor. And yet it happens to me ALL THE TIME.
  2. When people think that the rules don’t apply to them, but they do apply to everyone else. Ei- cutting in line, pushing and shoving at free community events, driving on the shoulder of the highway or a lane that is closed, etc.
  3. When someone asks me how my book is while I’m reading. THIS ANNOYS ME SO MUCH AND I DON’T KNOW WHY. I don’t want to put the book down to explain the plot and if I’m enjoying it or not. Just let me finish the book and then I can give you a full review. While you wait, pick up your own book. Or read the dust jacket.
  4. On that note, I am easily overwhelmed by questions in general. Sometimes Theo will ask me “what do you want to do right now?” Or “where do you want to go?” and I basically answer with something along the lines of “I don’t care as long as I don’t have to answer any questions.” I distinctly remember bawling my eyes out when we were wedding planning because Theo’s Dad asked me 2.5 million questions about the tent we were planning to rent for the reception. I was fully convinced that he didn’t like me and didn’t want us to get married because it felt like a full-on interrogation and I HATED it. Turns out he’s just analytical/logical and wanted to know the details of having a tent- totally innocent.
  5. Excessive hiccups or obnoxiously loud/startling/continuous sneezes. I realize that having this as a pet peeve truly shows the worst side of me. No one can help it if they have hiccups or if they need to sneeze, so who am I to be annoyed with them? Nevertheless, hiccups (when I get them AND when other people get them) just feel like a completely unnecessary interruption.
  6. When people say that “chewing noises” are their number one pet peeve. LISTEN. Everyone says this. EVERYONE. So it’s not a “pet” peeve- it’s just something that annoys 97% of humanity. We all need to come up with some more original pet peeves!

There. How many people did I offend with that last one?

Tell me in the comments- what are some of your pet peeves? What is something that annoys you that probably doesn’t really bother most other people?

My pet peeve is glue. Just glue. Being sticky. Clogged nozzles. Not coming out at the right speed. Kids smearing it everywhere. Glue jammed all up in the gluestick cap. Glue sticks falling out of the tube because they’re empty. Just glue. 🙈
