Okay. November. Here we go. You’ll find this week’s Hodgepodge questions below. Answer on your own blog, then hop back here on Wednesday (November 4) to add your link to the party. See you there!

1. Our November Hodgepodges always include a question related to gratitude. What is one small thing you’re grateful for today?
Today I am grateful for a school family that is eager to celebrate the big wins and the small wins. I am writing this in anticipation of a big win today, but I’m also nervous that it may not happen, so I’m feeling very reserved in that area. I am learning to say “it is well” and “come what may” about this situation, and learning to have gratitude through it all.
Also- one small thing I’m grateful for is the beautiful weather we had all October and into November!

2. Chrysanthemums-pansies-burning bush-ornamental cabbage-camellias…your favorite in an autumn garden? Would we find any of these in your yard/garden this year?
I honestly don’t even know what most of these look like, but I’m going to go with chrysanthemums. I feel like autumn is such a short season here before frost kills everything, I am not sure that I’ve seen an autumn garden!
3. If you could clear out or organize one physical space or mental habit before the year ends, what would it be?
Oh, absolutely my kids toys and rooms! We have birthdays in August, October and November before we go into holiday season, so it seems like the toys multiply in this season. Plus, we kind of come indoors way more starting in October/November and I want our cozy home to feel neat and not cluttered.
4. Brussel sprouts…love ’em or no thank you? If you said love ’em how do you like them prepared?
I never cook Brussel sprouts, but if they were served to me, I would eat them! I like them roasted in the oven with lots of butter and garlic salt.
5. It’s reassuring to know that____________________.
Christ is the sure and steady anchor. We sang this song in church on Sunday, and it was exactly what I needed to be reminded of!
Verse 1
Christ the sure and steady anchor in the fury of the storm
When the winds of doubt blow through me and my sails have all been torn
In the suffering, in the sorrow when my sinking hopes are few
I will hold fast to the anchor, it shall never be removed
Verse 2
Christ the sure and steady anchor while the tempest rages on
when temptation claims the battle and it seems the night has won
deeper still then goes the anchor though I justly stand accused
I will hold fast to the anchor, it shall never be removed
Verse 3
Christ the sure and steady anchor through the floods of unbelief
Hopeless, somehow, o my soul now lift your eyes to calvary
This my ballast of assurance see His love forever proved
I will hold fast to the anchor, it shall never be removed
Verse 4
Christ the sure and steady anchor as we face the wave of death
When these trials give way to glory and we draw our final breath
We will cross that great horizon, clouds behind and life secured
And the calm will be the better, for the storms that we endured
Christ the shore of our salvation, ever faithful, ever true
We will hold fast to the anchor, it shall never be removed
6. Insert your own random thought here.
I spent a ridiculous amount of time this week trying to get a fire fixed for the truck. This story is almost comical, y’all. So, the truck was being driven on our property and it caught a fence post hook and the tire went BOOM and popped. It was all ok because it was going all of 5 mph and no big deal and all. Tires can be fixed. Ok, so we get the spare on the truck and throw the popped tire in the back of the van so I can take it to the tire shop. Theo drives it to work, then calls me that the spare is also completely flat. So I drive to school/Theo’s work and pick up the spare tire, and take both tires to the shop. Then back to school to pick up Theo since we have one drivable vehicle. Then the next day I drive back and pick up both tires, take them both back to school/Theo’s work and drop off the tire, then it was dark so I stayed to give him light with my headlights while he changed the tire. Then I drove home. Theo drove home about 45 minutes later….and hit a deer. WHAT IN THE WORLD? It’s things like this that are unpredictable and pop up into a week and then seem to take up so much time! I’m thankfully not too stressed about it, I just went into the week thinking that I had a an extra amount of blank space in my week this week but NOPE. That’s just the way it is sometimes! You just gotta laugh and think of it all as a grand adventure!
