What’s Up Wednesday: June Edition

What We Are Eating This Week: I’ve been in a summer dinner slump! I need some good, fresh, easy ideas because my creative energy is running low in this area! We have four nights within a span of 7 days when we are having people over for dinner, so I’m going to make spaghetti, an enchilada bake, and chicken with rice for those days!

What I’m Loving: Have you guys seen these tablecloths that have a zipper so it can go around the umbrella pole in patio tables? I got one last summer and have used it every single day. In fact, I’ve used it so much that its looking a little gross, so I ordered a new one!

What We’ve Been Up to in June: Slow & Simple Summertime!

We started the month off with Orion and I traveling to my grandmother’s memorial service. Once I got back from that, we have been working on our summer bucket list and spending a lot of time doing animal/homestead chores! We are all just waiting with baited breath for Ori to walk, and he did take his first steps this month! The kids went camping with Theo and we have been to the beach (a local lake) and several splash pads nearby! I’ve been running as much as I can in preparation for my next half in just a few weeks and we have been trying to have weekly playdates with friends! The summer is FLYING by!

What I’m Dreading: Honestly, I’m dreading going back to school! I know that I will be ready by mid- August, but for now I’m not ready to even think about it…but this week I had to run to my classroom to grab some things and I have two meetings on my calendar and I just wasn’t ready to open the “teacher” box in my brain!

What I’m Excited About: Now I know this sounds crazy, but when I cracked that “teacher box” open in my brain, a lot of excitement also came swirling out! A new planner! New students! New ideas! New school year! Exciting!

What I’m Watching/Reading: You guys, we watch nothing. We are in this new stage of parenting where our kids just aren’t really ready to go to sleep until after 9pm, and then we are ready to go to bed by 10pm and by the time we get something set up we watch about 15 minutes and then go to bed. I honestly miss sitting around and watching TV, but at the same time…it’s ok that we don’t watch much.

Now, reading is a different story! I just finished these two…

The Summer We Started Over I only gave two stars. It was just boring and none of the characters worked for me. The Benedict Cumberbatch book was, actually, about Benedict Cumberbatch, although I think it was supposed to be about obsessions and fandoms and having something in our lives that we just LOVE (the author just loved BC so much that she dedicated 90% of the book to writing about him, instead of fandoms and obsessions in general).

I am currently reading these three books:

What I’m Wearing: This is the summer of dresses! I am wearing dresses every single day. And if I’m not wearing dresses, I am wearing shorts and tshirts!

I know I say it all the time, but it’s so hard to believe that June is almost over! What is happening?! We are loving this summer and hope that July goes a little bit slower so we can soak up some more of the summertime vibes!

So it’s not just me? I just started The Summer We Started Over and so far I too am finding it a bit boring. Not bad just not a book I care to dive deeply into each day. I figure I’ll start another book to read alongside it and hope one of them will take off and grip me. I can’t believe Orion is walking already.. I feel like it hasn’t been all that long since I saw photos of you pregnant and then with a newborn on the blog. Boy, time really does fly by.
