Is It Friday? Favorites

Friends. I honestly didn’t even know what day it was today…for most of the day. April and May are the sprint to the finish line of the school year, and this year is no exception! I LOVE this time of year, but I always get to the last day of school and need to crash so hard into summer!

I have barely blogged lately, and I wish that I had more time to visit this little space and spend more time commenting on other blogs. I am seriously so excited for my half marathon next weekend- so that it can be over and done with, and I can gain back hours of my life not stressing about training or running this thing. Remind me of that next Monday when I’m on a runner’s high and tempted to sign up for another race. Just say: “SUZANNE. YOU DON’T HAVE TIME TO TRAIN FOR A HALF. DON’T DO IT.”

I have so many favorites to share, so many thoughts bouncing around in my head. I could probably dedicate a separate blog post to every single one of these things, but for now a quick Friday Favorites post will just have to do.

Favorite #1: Babies, Bunnies and Dirt

This kid is living his BEST Spring life. He loves it all, and darts outside every single chance he gets. He is covered in dirt, mud, grass, leaves and sweat all day long now. I couldn’t love it more!

Favorite #2: Tulips

I planted tulips last fall, and eagerly awaited them to bloom this year. They are STUNNING! I want to plant more!

Favorite #3: Composting Toilet

I bet you never expected to see that as a favorite! Haha! We were hosting a large event on our property and I didn’t really want people in and out of our house to use the bathroom. So Theo just built a composting toilet. No big deal. Just built it out of scratch. I’m SO impressed.

Favorite #4: Homestead Day!

We hosted 120 people for a homestead day! This was quite the EVENT! Our whole family worked so hard to prepare our property, a scavenger hunt, a map, and I even hired some teenagers to help me man stations. I was so nervous about this event, but it went off without a hitch and I had so much great feedback!

Favorite #5: Easter Weekend

Easter weekend was a bit hard for me, to be honest. We’ve been waiting on a big, life-changing decision and I had hoped and prayed that we would know the answer by Easter Sunday. I also had really hoped that it would mean Theo could come to church with us on Easter Sunday. But that was not the case, and while I cried many tears over this, I also got through with some really special memories and a lot of hope in Christ. We did a seder meal on Friday night with my parents, and also had a nice Easter dinner on Sunday night when Theo got off of work.

Favorite #6: Cox Arboretum Hike

Our Wednesday hike this week was to Cox Arboretum, a local Metropark. It was stunning! I just couldn’t stop taking pictures! It’s safe to say that Spring is here and we are LOVING it!

Favorite #7: Spring on the Homestead

April and May means we are THRIVING with our homestead. The kids caught a giant snapping turtle, I’m getting about two dozen eggs every day and none of us can even stand to be inside the house when we have such a glorious backyard!

Well, that’s all for now. I will most likely not be blogging much between now and June. I’ll be back when I can!
