A Long(er) List of Gratitude

If you read my last blog post, you may be slightly concerned. Don’t worry- this is just my typical February slump :). I needed to write it all out and just process “out loud”, and that is what I did!

And now it’s on to peppier things. Despite some of the struggles and hardships, there is always an opportunity for gratitude and there are always many, many things to be thankful for.

  • A Day in Bed to rest when I wasn’t feeling well
  • Overcoming the Reading Slump- finally read some books that I couldn’t put down!
  • Basketball Season- it’s so fun watching my kids out there!
  • A thriving church youth group
  • Friends who let us borrow their cars when ours break down
  • Firewood that has lasted us through even this brutal winter
  • A warm and cozy fire to snuggle up around
  • The chance to go for daily walks, no matter the weather
  • Access to libraries with so many books to choose from!
  • A good read-aloud (Hatchet) finished with my kids last night- this one even kept Theo in the room during read-aloud time!
  • A field trip, a baby shower, a daddy-daughter dance and 3 basketball games all in one weekend! I’m thankful to be busy- it’s so fun. I remember when my February calendar was….blank…and I had 3 tiny children at home. I enjoy this type of season so much more.
  • All of my kids have reach an age where I can do a puzzle in the middle of the living room and nobody eats/grabs/loses all the pieces. In fact- most of them help me with the puzzle!
  • The clarity to take 90% of the library books sitting on my TBR shelf and dropping them off at the library- my head feels so much more clear now!
  • A trustworthy mechanic that we know isn’t going to overcharge us
  • We ate lunch OUTSIDE last Wednesday- the weather was in the 60s!!
  • Our chickens are finally laying eggs again- we got 48 in one day last week! After some weeks getting zero eggs in January, this feels like we struck gold!

Honestly, as I started this list- I couldn’t think of much to add to it. And as I started typing, I started to see more and more things around me that I am deeply and abundantly grateful for.

What are you grateful for today?
