Quarterly Goal Check In!

Ya’ll. We are three months into the year.

That means we are 1/4 of the way through the year.

That means it’s time for my quarterly goal check-in!

I say that as if I do it all the time, but this is really the first time I’ve tried to to do it. I always make great goals for myself and then by the time we get to December I’ve done a pretty good job of accomplishing a few, but I’m always surprised when I look back at my goals and realized that I didn’t even remember some of them!

So without further ado, here we are on March 29th, about 1/4 of the way through the year, and here is my progress on my goals so far:

Blog

  • Host a SW Ohio Blog Meetup! (Um, what? I have some ideas but I’m frankly TERRIFIED of doing it).
  • Redesign Blog (Not yet, but it’s in the works and the monies are being saved up for it! Hopefully by May)
  • Be on a podcast (EEKS! Half of the podcast I will be on has been recorded, but it won’t come out until Fall!)
  • Make $300 (Um, no. Not even close. But we have been working really hard on our AirBnb downstairs and have made close to 3k in 3 months)
  • Publish a book (Work in progress!)

Marriage

  • Get away for a weekend (We have a night away on the calendar!)
  • Do monthly AT HOME date nights (So far, so good! 2/2, and one coming up for March!)
  • Complete a 30 day marriage challenge (Haven’t even thought about it)
  • Build a habit of praying together each night (So-so. Maybe 50% of the time. Need to work on this one)

Household

  • Decorate basement/Make it more homey (Meh. I need to just bite the bullet and spend some money on decor, but that’s so hard for me!)
  • Redo Heavenly’s room (Not yet, but it’s on the calendar for some spring break plans!)
  • Set up a blog, homework and preschool station (Nope. But I have pinned some ideas to Pinterest!)
  • Hang updated family pictures  (does leaning them up on the mantle count?)

Personal

  • Run a half marathon (Not yet, probably not until the fall)
  • Read 40 books (9/40)
  • Use a babysitter to get out with ladies 1x a month (Done, Done)
  • Join a book club (Yes!)
  • Find a cute haircut & maintain it (Got my hair cut on January 1st, and have LOVED it. Have another appointment planned for a trim next week!)
  • Send 2 handwritten cards a month (Nope. I don’t think I’ve even sent one)
  • Memorize 2 Bible chapters (Working on some right now)

Financial

  • Pay off the loan we took out for the basement (We are about 75% paid off!)
  • Make enough monthly income from our AirBnb to pay the mortgage (Each month of this year has brought in enough to pay the mortgage, but we are putting it all directly towards our loan)
  • Tithe 10% of our income
  • Live 20% below our income
  • Save enough money for a down payment on a rental property (Working towards paying off that loan and then we will be able to put more towards savings)

Kids & Family

  • Go on a family vacation (Planned for August!)
  • Get passports for my kids (I’m ashamed that my kids don’t have passports…the MK in me has failed!) (Nope)
  • Find closure for Heavenly (I don’t know what this will look like, but I’m hoping we will get answers by this time next year) (NOPE. A BIG, FAT NOPE)
  • Do 4 days a week preschool with Tera (we are talking 15-20 mins here people, calm down) (Eh. I’ve struggled a bit with this one. Some weeks I do really well with this, and some weeks I don’t do anything at all)
  • Memorize 10 Scripture verses with my kiddos (I think we have done one!)
  • Take in at least one temporary foster placement (reconsidering this goal since we are feeling so burnt out, but it might actually redeem our fatigue to take in a placement that lasts less than 3 months)
  • Run a color run with Heavenly (Signed up for one in June!)
  • Go backpacking (Looking forward to warmer weather to get this on the calendar)
  • Go to the Ohio State Fair (C’mon, Summer! We need you around here something bad..)

March 2018: 7/34, with many more in progress. This was fun! It gave me a good idea of the things that I really need to work on (hello, blogging), and the things that we are doing pretty well on (finances). How are you doing on those 2018 goals?

You should consider doing the Air Force 1/2 marathon in September. It’s a fantastic race. I haven’t signed up yet, but I plan to, for the marathon.
