A Day in the Life

Day in the Life posts are SO FUN to make and fun to read! Sometimes I feel like my life is pretty ho-hum, but then I do a day in the life post and I realize that rarely are any two days the same, and rarely do I have a boring day. I know I will look back on this time of my life fondly, but also….I’m tired. Haha.

I took pictures and recorded a day in the life on Wednesday, June 18. It’s VBS week at our church, so we were feeling very tired and moving pretty slow on this particular day. There wasn’t much on the agenda!

I got up around 7 and just slowly started my day. I did my devotions, scrolled on my phone for a little bit, and Theo made breakfast for everyone before leaving for work right around 8.

I did some “light” housekeeping, like making the bed, started a load of laundry and posted a book review on my bookstagram account.

By 8:30, I started a workout. I’ve been doing very consistent workouts so far this summer, and I’m really proud of myself for continuing a whole series! This was day 6 of a 30 day series, but I’ve been alternating running with my workouts, so I’ve actually been consistent for over two weeks now!

The kids were begging to watch the Argentina/Algeria soccer game, so I agreed to let them watch that while I worked on my blog and caught up on some blog reading. We are all VERY tired from late nights at VBS, so there was a lot of fighting and parenting happening in that time, too.

After the game ended, I did a little bit more tidying and then we loaded up to take the boys to a friends house for a playdate. It’s kind of a running joke around here that everything is a 20-30 minute drive. We live in the country, but it’s really more suburbia than rural, but it still seems like I do a lot of driving!

I drove back home and just did not feel great- I was SO TIRED. I could hardly keep my eyes open. I don’t know if it was VBS or if I was fighting off some kind of virus, but I’m normally a high energy person and there was zero energy happening at this point in my day. I grabbed some lunch and read my book for a little bit.

Theo came home from work for lunch and flexed his hours to be home for the afternoon, and then go back to work while we were at VBS. This worked out well since I just needed to lay low for an hour or so. I read some more in the hammock and worked on reading some for my postpartum doula course. I also took a little nap- UNHEARD of for me.

Back to some light housekeeping- dishes, laundry and a quick house tidy. And a little afternoon treat, of course.

Theo and I loaded up the truck with a load of leftover garage sale things and Theo ran that to Goodwill while Ori and I worked on some animal chores.

Theo ran Tera to school for volleyball practice, and I took a shower and made some sandwiches to take with us to VBS. Of course, just when we are about to leave, I notice that all the piglets have dug a hole in the ground and are escaping one by one! Theo came home to help corral them and then Ori and I headed out to pick up Tera from volleyball and head to VBS.

We are volunteering at VBS, so we are there for 3+ hours each evening! It’s a blast, but I will be thrilled when I can go to bed at a decent hour next week.

We got home around 9:30 and everyone got to bed. Theo and I watched a couple minutes of The Chosen and then I read my book for about 30 minutes before going to sleep. We were expected to get some big storms in the night, but I slept right through the night and we never got any alerts on our phones. Apparently the tornado sirens were going off, but we slept right through them and we have no damage this morning.

And that wraps up A Day in the Life!

OH my goodness; the piglets escaping looks and sounds rather funny but I am sure it didn’t feel that way at the time.
