Thursday’s Question

Hi there!

Don’t forget to link up in the comments or on your own blog! I love hearing back from my readers!

Today’s question is:

What role does television play in your life and the life of your family?

I’m really interested in hearing all your responses on this. If I’m being honest, this is a HUGE topic for us.

Someone told us before we got married that we should try to go at least our first year of marriage without a T.V. Of course, this advice came from someone who also didn’t have internet shows. So basically the advice was to forego watching tv and shows as a hobby during at least the first year of marriage. We followed that advice and we still don’t have a TV.

However, we do have Netflix and of course, Hulu. So, unfortunately, we waste quite a bit of time watching “TV” through those means. Recently we have laid down two new rules for our family screen time:

1. No screen time when Tera is awake. (Texting and calling are approved)

2. One episode of a show a day (This rule is broken when Theo is at work).

Those two rules are very simple, but surprisingly hard to follow. I find myself breaking those rules far more often than I want to admit.

But I don’t want my daughter growing up being around the TV all the time, and thinking that my phone is an attachment to my hand.

So what about you? What role does television play in your life and the life of your family?
