April Happenings

What We are Eating Lately:

Um this is my current kitchen mood….

I’ve been doing a lot of really simple and easy meals like grilled cheese, breakfast for dinner, tacos, Mac and cheese with hot dogs, etc. We are TIRED, ya’ll. And we haven’t gotten that end of the school year hype yet.

What I’ve Been Remembering:

@brookeromneywrites posted this on Instagram and I nearly sobbed, because I feel all of this so deeply. I am currently in the stage where my littles are really so little anymore, and I’m starting to have big kids. Everyone was right when they said it was different and it’s hard, but honestly…having a bunch of tiny kids for years on end is so far the hardest thing I’ve ever done and it still makes me want to punch someone when they say “just enjoy it because it goes by so fast”, because in the moment it feels SO INSANELY HARD. But thinking about those hard, hard times also leads to seeing pictures of them so tiny and cute. It’s a wild ride, this motherhood gig.

Something I’m Loving:

Spring weather! And all the babies on the homestead! We LOVE Spring around here and cannot get enough of being outside. We are currently at 15 baby bunnies and I’m sure hoping we can find homes for all of them!

What We’ve Been Up To:

April was FULL! So full of good things!

Total solar eclipse, a visit from Grandpa and Grandma, a country report in 4th grade, Theo and I getting away from the weekend, listing our rental property for sale, a trip to the ER for cellulitis, baby bunnies born…it’s been so fun!

Something I’m Dreading:

Can I be real honest here? I’m signed up to run a half marathon and I am having major imposter syndrome and second thoughts about doing it. I’m exhausted, struggling to find the time to train, I’m overwhelmed by arranging childcare for it, and all of that is really getting to my head! I need to go out and do a long training run today, and I’m nervous that I will flop and discourage myself before the race. I’m really looking forward to it being over, and I have learned my lesson that a Spring race is NOT for me.

Something I’m Excited About:

MAY! It’s my favorite month, and it’s going to be a GOOD one!!! We have a wedding to attend, a Farm Babies class to run, all the end of the school year fun, my birthday, Mothers Day, our 12th wedding anniversary and then the beginning of summer! It’s going to be great!

What I’m Watching/Reading:

This is me right now!! I’m currently reading The Women by Kristin Hannah, but I also had James, Hello Beautiful and How to End a Love Story all come in at the same time! My goal is to have my April book review posted this Friday- I broke out of my slump and it was a GOOD reading month!

What I’m Listening To:

I am mostly listen to podcasts- here are some of my favorites right now:

The Newsworthy

Book Talk, Etc

Now that We’re a Family

Journeywomen

What I’m Doing This Weekend:

This weekend is looking to have gorgeous weather! We’ve got a pediatrician appointment for one kid, I’m going out for dinner with some girlfriends, I am participating in the Hope Rising Women’s Center Walk for Life and we will have church and Sunday lunch at my parents house! It will be a little bit of a “calm” weekend before May begins!

And that is all for now! I hope that your April has been fun and full of life and good things! Bring on May!

Thanks Mix and Match Mama and Shaeffer Told Me To for the fun linkup!

I dreaded my kids getting older and especially becoming teenagers because so many people told me to “enjoy it while they’re little” and things like that topped off with the “ugh teenagers!” sentiment that everyone seemed to hold– BUT looking back those years when they were all little were BY FAR the hardest. I loved having older kids and teens have been wonderful and oh so fun. I get that they are only little once but they are only at each age and stage once so I tried to always find something to enjoy about each stage.

I have 3 books from the library that just came in all at once plus the 2 I just picked up a week or so ago…
