It seems crazy that this year is already 3/4 over! I wanted to do these quarterly goal check-ins so that I don’t get to December and wonder why I didn’t meet any of my goals. Still, I have a lot of goals left to complete! I just thought I would recap what I’ve done so far this year and what I still have left to do. There are some goals that I need to reevaluate that just will not be happening, nor are they current priorities for me anymore. It’s pretty cool to see the way my thinking can change over the months, and how I now have new goals that I’m building!
2018 Goals:
Blog
- Host a SW Ohio Blog Meetup! (Nope. Probably won’t happen with new baby + holiday season coming up)
- Redesign Blog (In Progress)
Be on a podcast(Coming Soon!)- Make $300 (That’s funny. Most likely will NOT be happening)
- Publish a book (It’s written! But not published, or even close yet)
Marriage
Get away for a weekend(One night away counts, right?)- Do monthly AT HOME date nights (Um. NO. This has not happened)
- Complete a 30 day marriage challenge (Working on it & a blog post for it!)
- Build a habit of praying together each night (Need to revisit this one)
Household
Decorate basement/Make it more homeyRedo Heavenly’s room- Set up a blog, homework and preschool station (So far we have been doing preschool on the floor in the playroom, and I think we kind of like it! But I do still want to get a small art table for the kids)
Hang updated family pictures
Personal
- Run a half marathon (BAHAHAHA)
Read 40 books (I hit this goal in August!)Use a babysitter to get out with ladies 1x a month(I’ve been pretty consistent about this!)Join a book club(I did join but have only made it to one meeting)Find a cute haircut & maintain it- Send 2 handwritten cards a month (Maybe one. Maybe none.)
- Memorize 2 Bible chapters (Got one down! One to go)
Financial
Pay off the loan we took out for the basement(Debt FREE!!)Make enough monthly income from our AirBnb to pay the mortgageTithe 10% of our incomeLive 20% below our income- Save enough money for a down payment on a rental property (Kinda. Not really)
Kids & Family
Go on a family vacation- Get passports for my kids (I’m ashamed that my kids don’t have passports…the MK in me has failed!)
Find closure for Heavenly(I don’t know what this will look like, but I’m hoping we will get answers by this time next year)Do 4 days a week preschool with Tera(we are talking 15-20 mins here people, calm down)- Memorize 10 Scripture verses with my kiddos (We’ve got 4 down!)
- Take in at least one temporary foster placement (Nope.)
Run a color run with Heavenly- Go backpacking (Nope. Thanks, pregnancy. But I did camp in the back of our van, so can that count?)
- Go to the Ohio State Fair (We skipped again this year and went to one of our local county ones instead. The rides made me want to puke. Not riding the rides, mind you. Being around the rides.)
All right, so that is where we are at so far! Some of those goals just will not be completed this year…like running a half marathon or taking in a new foster baby. Some of the blog ones have really been put on the back burner as I have taken more time to spend with my family than hustling on my blog. At this point in the year, I am extremely exhausted and mainly have one goal: to finish off a healthy pregnancy and a have a healthy postpartum season. It’s funny because that was not on my radar in January of this year, but now it will most likely take t he place of all those other goals that I had written. And that is ok.
Summer Bucket List:

Apparently we aren’t very good at watching movies or doing crafts. LOL. I’d say that we made some pretty significant progress through our bucket list, and I’m happy with all the things that we did manage to do this summer, especially since I was pregnant and sick for a significant portion of it! And, hey…we’ve still got time before September 22, right? I think I could still cross some of those things off our list!
So what about you? How are you doing on your New Year’s Goals? And progress? A complete overhaul of your yearly goals?
