February Life

February was quite the month over here! Not only did we continue with this endless winter, but we also packed up and moved our entire house over the course of two weeks. In fact, lets play a fun game in this blog post- it’s called spot the moving box in every single picture! Seriously, I feel like February can be summed up with a giant picture of moving boxes and not much more. And yet…there was so much more. Buckle your seatbelt, February was CRAZY!

It’s too bad that Ezra isn’t adored every second of every day by every member of this family!! <sarcasm>

Kiah is also a little ham, and keeps us all entertained. He’s sometimes a little stinker, but most of the time he’s just so sweet and adorable. He also has a serious side and I love the far right picture of him in the realtors office right before we signed the lease for our new rental.

I continued with preschool through the month of February. There was one day that everything just went perfectly. Tera was focused and just KNEW everything I asked her. Kiah played quietly with his trucks and Ezra just cooed at us. Trust me…this isn’t actually the homeschool norm!

This was during a random February warm snap that we had. We busted outside as fast as we possibly could and soaked up as much sunshine and warmth as possible before winter came back with a vengeance! I LOVE this picture of Ezra!

As soon as Theo had a day off, we went for a hike! Hiking is probably our favorite family activity. Clifton Gorge is our favorite hike and this day did not disappoint! The snow was melting and the river was RAGING. It was breathtaking.

I’m not a huge screen time fan, but by the end of an Ohio winter I find myself plopping my kids down in front of a screen way more often. They have about six months of pent up energy and sometimes I just need to not have all that energy all over me.

Spring means mud and I’m just going to go ahead and embrace it! Thank you, Jesus, for Spring…and thank you, Jesus, for a working washer and dryer!

After the fools spring, we went back to miserably, brutally cold winter. This means a lot of being indoors. The hygge, cozy feeling has worn off and we are all just DONE with winter.

I also had the privilege to attend a Get Social Workshop. It was a small class of about 6 women and got to learn about taking photos, editing photos and curating our social media feeds to work well for us. It was a blast!

At the end of January, I finally felt like I was about to return to church. Since Ezra was born, we had the holidays, then Ezra’s sickness, then a churchwide norovirus spread and then Theo’s return to work. I was very nervous about getting back into the pew, but I finally realized that I needed to just do it for the sake of my children and my own spiritual feeding. We’ve been doing well, but we usually end up in the cry room and our row looks like this after the service:

February was moving along at it’s own pace when we decided to start actively looking for a rental property to move into. And then a few days into our search, we found one. And then a few days later, we signed the papers. And then a few days later, we moved in. It was all SO FAST! Lots of chaos of packing and unpacking!

Tera and I have been enjoying our read aloud time together. I LOVE reading chapter books aloud to her and she loves listening to them. We’ve read Little House in the Big Woods, Dear Giraffe, Charlotte’s Web, Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle and we started Winnie the Pooh but it just wasn’t holding her attention. Any suggestions for our next read-aloud?

Winter weather also means TONS of library visits. We go at least once a week and the kids treat it like their second home. I love our library antics (although sometimes it’s STRESSFUL when I have two kids going in opposite directions pulling all the books off the shelves and SHOUTING).

Our new home sweet home. It’s 950 sq ft and we are loving it.

It has three bedrooms, one bathroom…a living room, dining room and small kitchen. Obviously the living room is the most popular place to be. And that’s just the way I like it.

We also had a visit from our sweet Luna (gasp- did you catch her real name?!? Things have moved in her case where I can now share her face and her name!!!). I am so thankful and humbled by the continued relationship that we get to have with her. And she hand knit Ezra that hat.

Tera also got to attend homeschool math day at Cedarville University! This fun homeschool day started 8 years ago when I was an education major at Cedarville. The education majors put on a homeschool math day, where they plan the lessons and then actually get to teach real kids! And the homeschool kids get to go and play math games. And the homeschool Moms all say AMEN and drop their kids off somewhere for the first time in a few months and go drink a hot tea in peace with ONLY two kids. LOL.

We love the new park by our house! Although the swing jumped up and bit Kiah in the lip and he was GUSHING blood. He was perfectly fine and wanted to keep playing but he looked like such a mess! We basically head to the park anytime the weather is above 45 degrees because WE NEED TO GET OUT OF THE HOUSE.

The last thing we did in February was celebrate ThanksChrisBirthday with my brother and his family! We meant to get together for them for a ThanksMas celebration, but their kiddos were sick so we skipped getting together. So we planned a new get together and also celebrated my brother’s 30th birthday! I didn’t take very many pictures but we always have a blast when we are with them!
