Can you believe that our sweet Ezra John is already 6 months old?!?

It does not seem possible that half a year has already passed since the birth of this sweet boy.
For all of my previous babies, I have not really enjoyed the infant baby stage. I’ve always looked forward to 6 months and getting closer to one year than a newborn. I’ve always loved this stage where they start sitting up and interacting and eating table food and gaining some distinct personality traits.

But this time? I’m SO SO sad that 6 months is already here! I have absolutely loved the infant stage with Ezra. I have soaked up all those precious cuddles and breastfeeding sessions. I have adored carrying him around everywhere and meeting all his needs. It’s so crazy how things can change from one child to another. I don’t know why this baby has been so different- perhaps its because he is my third baby and I just finally feel like I have the hang of mothering a tiny baby. Or maybe it’s because Ezra wasn’t so tiny and slept through the night right after he had recovered from his hospitalization at 7 weeks. Or maybe it’s because he was hospitalized and it was so scary that I really don’t take his presence with us for granted. Or maybe it was because I consumed my placenta after his birth. I don’t know…but I’m so so so so grateful for this baby and the incredible joy and blessing he brings to our family.

At 6 months old, Ezra weighs in at 19.5 pounds and his head is solid- 93% solid.
He is literally the sweetest baby in the world. He rarely cries and he is so easy to please. I tell people that if he had been my first child, I would have thought that babies were SOOOOO easy and immediately had another one. LOL. I’m so glad he is my third baby and it will be interesting to see how he grows up.
He is rolling and has started to sit unassisted (although I still like to sit next to him to catch him when he inevitably falls over). So far he can spin and scooch a bit on his tummy, but hasn’t figured out how to get his stomach off the ground yet to crawl.

Up until our trip across PA and to NYC, he was sleeping through the night 8pm-7am with one dream feed at 10pm. But the last few weeks he has been waking up for a feed between 4 and 5 am. I think it’s because he isn’t getting enough calories to support his size. So begins table food! So far he is very interested in food until it gets into his mouth, and then he’s more found of spitting it out all over anyone who is in the near vicinity.

It’s no secret around here that everyone loves Ezra. He is the favorite of all members of our family. We just can’t help it. Look at his rolls. And his smile. And when he smiles…..we are all goners.

We sure do love you, Ezra John. Thankful beyond words for the 6 months you have been a part of our family.
Behind the scenes….this is what it takes to take these monthly pictures of Ezra….

I think I might have already said this recently on here, but 3rd babies seem to have a special magic about them. I experienced this with my 3rd and have heard it from several other mothers too. I really enjoyed his baby stage (and really, all his first four years). It’s probably that moms are more relaxed and prepared and used to things by number 3?
