February Rewind

If we were to hit the rewind button on February, here is what we would see:

  1. 1. Lots of time spent in our homeschool room, diligently working away. We struggle sometimes to get 2nd grade work done while the preschool worker is a little overeager and the 3 year old is in need of some entertainment. Still, I love our homeschool days and am glad that we get them here in this beautiful and safe home space.

2. We actually spent a lot of time outside in the snow! I finally discovered that a good pair of snow pants makes all the difference for staying warm while playing outside. Ezra was not a huge fan of cold outdoor time, but the other two LOVED it.

3. Family Time. My Dad came back from 6 weeks in Africa, and we got to get together with the Hines for a Hines family reunion!

4. Snow Tubing. We headed to Perfect North Slopes for an afternoon of snow tubing with Corinne + Dan! It was a blast!! We figured out quick which slopes had the longer lines and how to go the fastest down the hills. Pretty sure this will be an annual activity! Ezra stayed home with Meemaw because of the before mentioned lack of enjoyment of outdoor snow recreation. Ha.

5. Valentines Day Tea Party. Tera hosted her first party and it was a Valentines Day Tea! We had a blast and she learned a lot about hosting parties! I’m very, very proud of her.

6. February also means a lot of time tucked up inside, so lots of books read! I stopped doing monthly reading recaps because they are so much work, and I decided this year that I will do them seasonally. But now I’m nervous about putting together a blog post with 30 book reviews, so maybe I will go back to monthly book reviews. Any thoughts? What would you prefer?

7. I also got to head to a baby shower for some good friends who are having their first sweet baby! Unfortunately, on the way home (a 3 hour drive), I broke down on the side of the highway and had to wait for Theo to come and rescue me. While waiting for him, I learned how to pop the hood and check the oil (which was fine). Thankfully, the problem ended up being a fluke and the mechanic didn’t even charge us for diagnosing it!

8. Of course, there were many real life moments throughout the month that I also documented. Like the fact that we hit all four seasons in one day and my outfit proved it (sunglasses, fleece sweater, rainbows and a nice mug of chai). The kids ran ahead on a walk and “hid” behind a tree. It was cracking us up! Patience continues to rule the roost and is the fluffiest, prettiest, most Patient cat ever. Of course, Ezra keeps us continually on our toes and had a doctor appointment this month that revealed he had a double ear infection, sinus infection, pink eye, on top of his difficulties with asthma. It’s been insane.

And that is a wrap on February! March has indeed come in like a lion, and I’m hoping that it will turn lamb-y soon.
