If you have a blog, come join Shaeffer and Shay for their What’s Up Wednesday link-up. It’s also a fun way to browse around in the link-ups and find some other great bloggers!
Hard to believe this, but it is the last Wednesday of the month! January is always the longest month of the year EVER, and somehow this month has both flown by and crawled by for me. Here’s a little glimpse at what we are up to lately…
What We Are Eating This Week
- Monday- Biscuits and Gravy
- Tuesday- Liver/Hot Dogs and Mac and Cheese at my parents house
- Wednesday- Tacos
- Thursday- Beef and Cabbage Stir Fry with Noodles
- Friday- Chicken and Rice (If you read my blog or follow me on Instagram you may put two and two together that we officially have our first homestead chicken in the freezer and it will be a big deal to be able to eat our first meat grown/raised on our own land!)
- Saturday- spaghetti
- Sunday- Lunch at my parents house, Grilled cheese/soup and leftovers for dinner at home
What I’m Reminiscing About
I just cannot get over the fact that one year ago our life was SO different and we had no idea how much it was about to change in the year 2022. We lived in a small house in town and had one pet cat and three kids. Now we live on five acres, are expecting our fourth kid and have more animals than I can count (pigs, chickens, a dog, three cats, piglets and chicks). It’s just WILD.

What I’m Loving
This week Theo switched to day shift!! After 6 years as a street officer, he finally has enough seniority to be able to get on day shift. Now, his days off are still terrible, but at least we have day shift!
We also got a really beautiful snow on Sunday morning. It was a lot more snow than anyone was predicting, but it was the perfect snow to play outside in!

What We’ve Been Up To
Oh, you know…just the boring stuff like feeding piglets, buying new chicks, learning how to homestead in the winter, teaching 1st grade, visiting with grandparents, going to basketball games for our little cheerleader, growing a human being, and trying to keep our sanity. That about sums it up! I find reflecting on our life leaves me both amazed and slightly bored. We aren’t doing anything mega important or even attention worthy, and most days I’m just exhausted by the end, but when I step back and look at everything that we are doing, it’s a little wild over here in this life 🙂

What I’m Dreading
The continuation of winter. How long 6.5 more weeks of pregnancy feels. And yet how soon our whole life is going to shift again. Also, I am dreading what my body needs to go through to get this baby on the outside.

What I’m Excited About
I mean…we are HAVING A BABY IN less than 7 weeks!!!!!

What I’m Watching/Reading
We watched The Biggest Little Farm as a family and LOVED it. Gah, just wanted to hug it when it was done.
I just finished reading Johnny Tremain and am picking up The Last Stranger in the Woods. Also on deck is a stack of birth books that I am going to start reading to get into the birth mindset.

What I’m Listening To
A friend shared this 90s Youth Group playlist and I about died listening to these throwbacks. DC talk, Switchfoot, Audio Adrenaline, Newsboys, Jars of Clay….oh, man…what a trip down memory lane!
I’ve also enjoyed listening to a Shane and Shane hymns/worship playlist while we start our mornings.
What I’m Wearing
Um…anything that fits. My kids were making fun of my outfit this morning (see below)- I don’t blame them hahaha. I’m officially at the point in pregnancy where I have a select few pieces of clothing that actually fit, and even fewer that are flattering to me. This is made more complicated by the fact that I have a dress code at work, so I can’t just wear leggings and sweats all the time. It seems like my body is shifting and changing each day and something that fit me yesterday doesn’t fit today. Basically, I just pull out the first shirt in my closet, try it on…discard it if it doesn’t fit, and move on down the line. Then I find some pants to match the top.

What I’m Doing This Weekend
This weekend will involve a basketball game, celebrating my Dad’s birthday, and officially becoming members at our new church. It’s going to be chilly and wintery outside so mostly we will just be at home!
What I’m Looking Forward to Next Month
February is going to be a blast! We have lots of cheer/basketball games to attend, some sweet friends are throwing a baby sprinkle for me, and Theo and the kids are going out of town for a family reunion while I stay home and rest/work on maternity leave lesson plans. Also once I get through February it will then be BABY MONTH!
What Amazon Purchase Did I Love this Month
I like to wear tank tops under my shirts, but all of my tank tops are too short and just ride up my belly, so I ordered these on Amazon. I also liked that they were nursing tops, so even if the maternity wear part didn’t work out for me, I could save them for postpartum. Well, I LOVE them. They are so comfortable, perfect for maternity and will be great for nursing and they are long enough to keep everything covered!!

And that is a wrap on this month’s What’s Up Wednesday!
Just in case you missed my other recent blog posts, you can check them out here:

Those are fabulous maternity tanks (though I am so thankful I no longer need them! LOL). Your life does sound very busy but also so very fun and full too. I bet your kids are loving living on a farm with all these animals around.
Thank you! I will be glad to switch back to regular clothes in just a few weeks haha!
