Friday Look Back

Well, it is Friday afternoon as I type this, and I’m just now getting around to recapping our week so I can link up with the Friday Favorite ladies! This was our LAST week of summer and I had wanted to make it a very fun week, but it turned into more of a practical school prep week with all hands on deck getting the school ready!

Let’s look back on last Friday and then I’ll recap the rest of our week!

Friday

It was Tera’s 11th Birthday AND Meet the Teacher Night at school!

I took Tera out for pedicures and then we hopped over to the One Dollar Book Swap before meeting the boys for lunch. That afternoon, we cooked ten pounds of taco meat for a quick potluck meal for administrators at school and then put all the finishing touches on our areas for back to school night. Theo, myself and the two oldest kids all worked the whole night and wrapped up the evening with a beautiful prayer walk around school. Thankfully, my parents came and collected the two younger kids and took them home for a move and bedtime! It’s a BUSY night!

Saturday

We had a desperately needed low-key day. I took the older kids to the library and then we stopped at the “bin store”. The owner sources random things from Amazon and dumps them all into these bins- everything is $5. Some items are worth WAY more than $5 and some are worth less haha. I did find an amazing blanket that retails for $42 on Amazon and I scored it for $5. When all the pre-teen girls came over for Tera’s birthday party later in the weekend, they were oohing and aahing over the blanket, so I’d call it a win! Theo was working on a paper for grad school and the kids were swimming, so I popped into my sunflower field to grab some more photos and just enjoy the beautiful blooms!

Sunday

On Sunday, we went to church and then came home for some lunch. While lunch was cooking, Tera opened her family birthday presents. After lunch, I ran to the store to grab a cake and some snacks for a little party, and then Tera had some friends over for the afternoon! I didn’t take a single picture of the party, but I did find this adorable picture of Tera at her first birthday party!!! My, how times have changed- Tera’s first birthday was themed- the snacks fit the theme, the decorations, the outfit, the invitation, everything. For Tera’s 11th birthday I didn’t even know who she had invited, I got home from the store with a store bought cake at the same time her friends were arriving, and I didn’t take a single photo. Hahaha.

Monday

Monday was errand day. First, we went and picked up a new pet for Tera. This brings our bunny count back up to four. Look at this thing! It’s a lion head bunny, and we also got her sister (we hope haha)

After picking up the bunnies, we dropped them off at home and then headed to the library. After the library, we headed straight to school where we helped move ALL the donated back to school supplies from the bottom of the school to the top of the school. We don’t have an elevator, so we had to load up the van and drive it around to the other entrance and then unload it. It was a hot and sweaty process, but we got it done! I didn’t take a single picture. After that, I took the kids straight to Tropical Smoothie because we deserved a treat haha. And then home for about an hour before leaving to go back to school for volleyball practice and tutoring. Then back home for chores and making dinner. Ori was so cute- he found this sticker and put it on his eye like an eye patch. No, he does not wear an eye patch, but he has seen Ezra wear his and was mimicking what he sees Ezra do every day!

Tuesday

Tuesday morning I worked on catching up on chores and then in the afternoon we met some friends who got us into Kings Island on their pass! It was a whole lot of fun, although very overwhelming at first. Now that I know the lay of the land, I would have a lot more fun the second time I go! Unfortunately, I was also coming down with a cold so I wasn’t feeling the best. I also did not take a single picture until we were walking out. But here is proof that Ori had a blast- he fell asleep in the car on the way home and then we could not wake him up- this was like 6pm. Haha. I quickly showered and changed and headed off to Bible study.

Wednesday

On Wednesday I folded alllll the laundry and then got myself and the kids ready to go into school for the day. I met up with my co-teacher and we planned out the first two weeks of school and made lots of copies of all of our papers. I think I am mostly ready for the first day, but there is always SO much prep work to do! I got home and was feeling a little overwhelmed and pretty yucky from my cold, so I went out and cut some flowers and made an arrangement. We had my parents over for dinner and games that night as well.

Thursday

I told the kids that I would take them to the mall in the afternoon if I could have a whole morning of getting some stuff done. I had so much stuff to cut out for my class and I was feeling so behind on house chores, so I worked on getting some of that done and then we went to the mall. I gave each kiddo $5 and said if they wanted to spend more than that, it was from their own money stash :). We headed home and made pita pizzas and watched a movie, and I felt so awful that I got in bed around 8pm.

Friday

Two dump truck loads of mulch were delivered to the school playground, and it needed to be spread around before school starts on Monday, so we got up early and headed over to school to get to work! Thankfully, some people joined us and many hands made light work- although I’m going to need an ibuprofen and a back rub tonight haha! Now I’m in my classroom putting the finishing touches on all that needs to be done for school to start next week! Here we goooooo!
