I typically join up with the What’s Up Wednesday crew on the last Wednesday of the month, but I’m keeping it simple this month and just writing up a quick September recap instead. Honestly, I don’t know what we are eating or what I’m wearing hahaha. September has been exhausting!

September by the Mood:
Professionally, Theo and I are both trying to get our footing and give this school year our best. I like to say “it will be a challenge year”. Do you ever have those seasons of your life? The ones that aren’t bad, but that are…well, challenging? That’s this school year for us! I’m really looking forward to some of these sports seasons being over, and getting back to a little bit of a better home routine. We are thinking through what level of sanity it requires to have so many kids in sports and eating up most of our evenings. Or maybe it’s a certain level of insanity? I don’t know…we just feel way too busy, but we don’t know how to take any of it off our plates.
All of the political stuff going on this month has been…a lot. I tend to fall in the middle of a lot of issues, and I tend to not know what to say when I see two very opinionated sides arguing. I often see both sides of an issue (which is a gift), but then find myself drifting and not feeling the urge to be LOUD and pick what I personally believe (which can be a curse). I want to respect those who feel passionately about certain issues, but I don’t personally want to write about it on my blog or social media (I need like 3-4 weeks to process and by then everyone has moved on), so I usually just don’t post much at all during those times. Some may call me a coward, but I actually think I’ve kept myself out of a lot of trouble in these public spaces. Trust me: if someone isn’t posting about it, it isn’t always because they don’t care. It’s because they are thinking about it inside their heads, not outside their heads.
One of the highlights of September happened just this week. Our cat, Patience had gone “missing” for most of the entire month of September. She’s an indoor/outdoor cat in the summer, and has gone missing for a week or so at a time. We joke that she has another family somewhere, because she never comes back emaciated or anything. Well, this time she was gone for over 3 weeks. I knew in my heart she wasn’t dead, but I also was starting to tell myself that she wasn’t coming back. Well, on Monday I was sitting at my desk and I saw a cat outside. PATIENCE!! I ran outside and scooped her up in the biggest, tearful hug. It felt like a real-life reenactment of the ending scene in Homeward Bound when Chance and Sassy come back and then Shadow comes over the hill (I SOB during that part of the movie every time).
Well, that’s all for today! I’ll probably be back on Friday and I have some ideas for fun blog posts in October, so let’s see if I can get myself into a better rhythm and more consistent posting!

It definitely sounds like a busy month!
