Friday Favorites

This has been a wonderful week here in Ohio! We got much needed rain on Tuesday, and with that rain came the fall temperatures! I am loving wearing sweaters and pants again, although I wish this weather stuck around for a month or so, and then we got to go back to summer again.

Last week was a doozy for our family, so this week felt absolutely calm in comparison! Here are some of our favorites from the week:

Marmon Valley Overnight Trip- I already wrote a whole post on this, but here are some highlights:

Cedarville Homecoming Parade- We made it to the Cedarville Homecoming Parade this weekend! It’s our favorite parade- so fun, so much candy, and not too long or too short. It was worth the early morning and the 40 minute drive out there! Side note: Tying a helium balloon around your 2 year old when in a crowd is BRILLIANT.

Theo and I met at Cedarville, but at this point it feels like the distant past. Tera says she wants to go to Cedarville, so it feels like we might be closer to having a kid on campus than when we were on campus!

Eye Patch Empathy- Ezra has to patch his eye 2 hours a day. It is hard for him, and he’s very strong, but still complains and asks when he can take off his patch. So we decided to do an eye patch empathy day and we all had to wear eye patches for 2 hours so we could understand what he goes through. It was BRUTAL. We were all complaining, and we lasted less than hour before taking it off. It gave us so much more appreciation (and patience) for Ezra when he has to wear it! I’ll write another post on this next week- it taught us some really great lessons.

Library– We’ve been visiting some of our local libraries that we have never been to before. We went to the Franklin Public Library this week, and we all loved it! A new favorite!

A Rainy XC Meet– the kids had their last meet for cross country on Tuesday! It was POURING rain and chilly, but we loved every second of it. Cross country is my favorite sport to spectate- I call it particispectating because you don’t get to just stand/sit to spectate. You gotta dash around to see your kid pass certain spots, then sprint to the finish line to get their before the kids! It’s a BLAST. I love that my kids love running.

A short and sweet list of favorites this week! I’m looking forward to a full weekend and a then a calmer/slower week ahead. How is your weekend looking? Anything to look forward to in October?

What a great list of favorites! I love that eye patch empathy day. That is such a great idea. I remember my boys freaking out about lotion on their eczema when they were kids and I used to roll my eyes like please, it’s lotion!… well, I broke out in eczema as an adult and man any lotion of any kind stings when I have an eczema flare up and I felt so bad for all those years I poo-poohed their complaints.

Yes, wearing the eye patch *briefly* made me understand why he complains so much about his eye patches! It was brutal!! I’m so proud of him, but I also hope that his eye patch journey ends soon haha!
