Day in the Life 3/21

It’s been a long while since I’ve done a day in the life on here! I thought I would record a random Saturday that we were all at home, with almost nothing on the calendar! This was also in the middle of our Spring Break, so I was feeling much more relaxed and accomplished than usual. Those are the best kind of days- when I feel productive, but not rushed.

The kids and I had spent the day at the zoo the day before, and we all crashed really early on Friday night. I hadn’t been feeling great, and even though I might have had a fever, so we went to bed with absolutely no plans for Saturday morning.

I woke up around 7 to hear Theo starting his truck and leaving. I was VERY confused. What day is it? Why is he leaving? Where is he going? I was wracking my brain to figure out what was happening, but I finally got up and grabbed my phone off the kitchen counter and texted him. He responded quickly….”taking Tera to One Bistro”.

oops! We had completely forgotten that Tera had committed to work a shift at One Bistro with my parents that morning. Thankfully, Theo got her there just in time to start her shift.

Meanwhile, I got my day started by writing a to-do list and getting some breakfast started for the boys. I did “piddly” chores, like starting a load of laundry, making a grocery list, etc.

I was taking it slow since I still felt like I maybe had a cold or something, so I got all my books and laptop and calendar and sat in bed working on devotions, blogging and calendar update things. It was a beautiful day, so I’m assuming the boys and Theo were outside, but I’m honestly not sure at this point.

Sometime during the morning, I got myself dressed

Around 11, we loaded up and headed over to One Bistro to pick up Tera and get some lunch while we were there. It was such a cool experience! I wrote a whole post on the experience here.

We headed back home, and Ori went down for a nap. It was SUCH a beautiful day- I call this type of day a “CHORES OUTDOORS” day because there is absolutely that can keep me inside, even if I have chores- they come outside with me!

Theo started working on cleaning out and organizing our barn (A HUGE project!), but I opted to not help him because I was still feeling like I had a little bit of a head cold and I didn’t want to irritate it with all the dust and mess in the barn. Instead, I hung a load of laundry on the line, folded and sorted a couple loads of laundry, made a round of bread, ran to the grocery store, and collected eggs for the day.

At this point, I completely neglected to take any pictures for the rest of the day. I made dinner, and doubled the recipe so I could take one casserole as a meal to a friend who just had a baby. We ate the other one ourselves- OUTSIDE. After dinner the kids played while I worked on clean up and then we started the bedtime routine. After the kids are in bed around 8, Theo and I typically get in bed and watch an episode of show and then I read my book for a few minutes before lights out around 10. We really lead an exciting life 😉

And that is a simple, BORING Saturday in my life! It’s exactly the kind of day that we need every now and then.
