June Recap and Highlights

June flew by in the blink of an eye, and while I’m trying to do better about doing smaller recaps of life events, that just simply did not happen in June. Soooo…we get one long recap instead. Sorry!

June started and ended with my Dad having chemotherapy (seriously- June 1st and June 30th were his chemo days). The first round was quite rough practically speaking as it lasted almost 8 hours. The second round went much smoother and only took 1.5 hours! Both times the symptoms were rough for 3-5 days after and then slowly improved. We continue to covet your prayers for my Dad, Mom and all of us who are walking with him through this. I wore my You Can Do Hard Things shirt as a reminder for us all 🙂

We went to a nearby store called The Fabric Shack. I love this store just because it’s so visually appealing with all of the fabrics sorted by color. I do not sew, and this is all upholstery fabric which I really do not sew, but it’s still a fun little visit!

We’ve been having lots of good times just being outside on the homestead, swimming in our pool, picking mulberries and making excessive amounts of mulberry lemonade, and doing our animal chores. We sold all of our piglets except 3, and almost all of our bunnies died (tragic and traumatic!), and our chickens are still running everywhere- last count we have somewhere around 100 chickens. It’s a bit excessive lol.

Ori moved into a big boy bed AND basically potty trained himself this month (after I tried and tried for nearly a year haha). He’s growing up so fast! Clearly the older 3 kids are just as excited for all of his milestones as his parents are. Being the youngest really does come with a lot of love and attention!

We had a garage sale and it was disappointing…

The World Cup started and we have watched LOTS of that. We made prediction brackets and have gotten really into it! Of course, all the teams I’ve been cheering for have been knocked out and I’m sad about it! The kids like to brush my hair while we watch, so I’ve gotten all kinds of nice hairstyles in the last month. Kiah and Ezra were very proud of figuring out how to put my hair into a ponytail!

Our church is fairly large, and for years they did not host VBS- but this year they brought it back! It was a blast! I was a crew leader for Kindergarten, Tera was on the praise team, the three boys were participants and Theo worked security one night. Let me tell you what- we had fun, we learned a lot, and we were TIRED by the end of the week!

After VBS we had a quick visit from my in-laws. They recently bought a nice little camper that they can haul to their kids houses and just park out in the driveway. We are working on getting camper hookups at our property so they can come visit more often! Visits with Grandpa and Grandma always mean morning pickleball, a fun outing and Grandpa takes us out to eat! Side note: why do I love every single clothing item in Crackel Barrel? What does it say about me if my style is “Cracker Barrel”?

Our next big thing was my family reunion/vacation to Red River Gorge! It was a wonderful time and I’m so glad that we all got to go!

June has been my month to get back into a routine of running and working out. My elbow gives me almost no pain and I have almost full range of motion now, which I’m so thankful for!

That is a wrap on June! It doesn’t seem like we did all that much, but with a week of VBS and a week of being out of town, it sure did go by fast!
