Happy Friday! It’s hard to believe that July is already swooping by. I just can’t believe how fast June went, and now July is following on the same track. Here are some of my Friday favorites lately:
Summer Camp
My three older kids went to day camp for the first time this year! All 3 had great reports and had a blast. I was SO nervous before sending them (what if they hate it; what if it’s terrible; what if something bad happens?), but it turns out that it has been the biggest blessing for them and for me. Ori and I have enjoyed our more quiet and chill days at home. And I’ve finally managed to get some blogging done!

World Cup
The only problem with loving the World Cup so much is being so sad when all my favorite teams get knocked out. The US loss this week was BRUTAL, and I’m annoyed that Argentina is still in after their controversial game with Egypt. Cabo Verde still has my heart!

Chemotherapy
My Dad went in for his 2nd round of chemo last week. While chemo is not a favorite, it IS a favorite that his chemo day was less than 2 hours instead of the 8 hours that it was previously! And we moved my Dad’s chair so that he had a lovely view. Unfortunately, the side effects have been NOT a favorite this past week.

Reading Lately
Some of my library holds have come in recently, and I’m just LOVING the books I have on deck!

Animal Entertainment
One day the piglet got his head stuck in a chicken feed bucket. It was hysterical, until we realized that it was STUCK STUCK. We had to wait for Theo to get home to cut it off, and it still took two kids holding down the piglet and Theo cutting it with big hedging scissors LOL. Serves you right for trying to eat the chicken feed!

Pools and Popsicles
I know it’s been hot, but I LOVE it! We have been spending hours every day in the pool! And drinking lots and lots of popsicles!

4th of July 5k
I should probably just write a whole post recapping our 4th of July celebrations, but Tera and Kiah ran in their first 5k. Kiah got 3rd place in his age group and was really proud of himself for not walking once. I got 11th place in my age group! And Tera did AMAZING and even though she got 37th place in her age group, I had to point out to her that she is at the bottom of her age group and an 11 year old competing against a 14 year old that has already gone through puberty is probably a big contributing factor here haha. I also warned Kiah that next year he would move up an age bracket and the same will apply to him next year! It was a HOT morning and we ran hard, then attended the parade.

Camp Creek
I do intend to write a separate blog post about this, but we spent a day at a rural property in southern Ohio that is completely off grid. Theo’s brother and his family have hand-built their own tiny little cabin and bushwhacked lots of trails on their property for 4-wheeling. We had a really fun day being completely off-grid!

Friday Follows
I just wanted to shout out a few more bloggers for you to follow. If you are not already reading these blogs, I recommend hopping on board:
Polka-Dotty Place is one of my favorite blogs to follow. Her kids are similar ages to mine, and she is a Kindergarten teacher so I often find that I can relate! She gives so many great, practical little life and parenting tips and I appreciate her positive approach to each stage of parenting/teaching. Highly recommend giving her a follow!
Maria at Memorable Moments + Modest Missives is actually a local blogger that I found through Joyce’s link-ups! I can’t believe how close we live to each other and have somehow never run into each other or seem to have any mutual friends. Maria is unofficially my “auntie” as she is an empty nester who has much wisdom, but she certainly isn’t old! I recommend giving her a follow, too!
Natasha at Here’s the Scoop is a Candaian blogger, and the more I read, the more I feel like we have in common! She works at a school, loves to hang her laundry on the clothesline, and her family enjoys soccer and hiking. I enjoy following along with daily life and following their recent home renovation was really fun 🙂
Blog Comments
Fellow bloggers out there- how are you finding readers, gaining followers and getting blog comments? I know that isn’t the entire goal here, but I just keep wonder am I missing something? I know that the general majority of people online aren’t reading blogs much anymore, but there still seems to be a strong audience in some places, and I’m just wondering how one goes about connecting with blog readers?

When we meet up, I will tell you when I think we did see each other “in the wild” lol!! You will be able to verify it by telling me if you were at this particular place. Thanks for the shout out and congrats on the 5k race and results. It sounds like you all did amazing (consider writing a post about it with all the deets :)). That poor piglet. Hope he wasn’t claustrophobic. It must have been awful for him but hopefully he learned a lesson about where NOT to stick his snout!
