My baby girl, my firstborn, turned FOUR years old on August 8th.
I know this post is “late”, but I had to get it out there because I just cannot believe that I have been a Mom for FOUR years and that my once itty bitty baby is now a smart, loving, personality-filled FOUR year old.

Oh, sweet girl..we love you so much. You are fiercely independent and incredibly observant of the world around you. We often refer to you as “mini Officer Hines” because you make sure to police everyone around you. Heaven forbid your brother ever step out of line! You are sweet and incredibly helpful to Momma, but your favorite person to actually spend time with is Daddy. Our biggest struggle with you right now is getting you to go to sleep at night. You quit napping about a year ago and it seems that sleep is just not a necessary part of your life. You are resilient and flexible and don’t mind the fact that you are becoming a big sister for the fourth time this fall. You are so smart and so, so ready for preschool at home with Mommy. You can count to 10, struggle counting through the teens and then take off again at 20. You can recognize all the letters of the alphabet, but forget some sometimes. You are learning sounds for letters but sometimes will say “P, P, CAR!” so I don’t think it’s all clicked yet. You just recently learned to rhyme and it’s your favorite thing to do. You have an extensive vocabulary and use it ALL.THE.LIVELONG.DAY. You probably ask “why” at least 45 times an hour. You are ornery and sometimes just too smart for your own good, disobeying tactfully. You and Kiah are starting to become best friends and I know that you will be an awesome big sister for the new baby coming in the fall.
Happy 4th Birthday, sweet girl!
