September is the month of wonderful weather

How do we feel about cheesy quotes as the title of blog posts?

At this point I’m just rolling with it, because the only alternate title I could think of was “September 2020”. So I guess we can make this post a “choose your own title” blog post adventure.

Anyways….on to the actual post! Let’s recap our month of adventures in September!

Ezra and Kiah are loving preschool. They have the best teachers and get to do so many fun things! Their teachers also send me pictures and updates during the day.

I loved our library systems Pre-Covid, but boy am I even more thankful for them now! I recently applied for a teacher library card on which I can check out 999 books! I wonder if I will ever check out that many? While I was working with the librarian to get my new card set up, my kids just made themselves at home…right on the floor of the lobby.

Poor Kiah got stung by a bee right on the lip! It swelled right up and Mama was a little worried for a few minutes! Thankfully after an hour it went right back down and he was fine. Oddly enough, that was his second bee sting in one week! I knew this kid was sweet, but that is a bit much!

Our newest niece was born at the beginning of September and we drove up to socially distance visit her! It was fun to see her, but I sure do wish I could hold the little squish!

In September, we did another spending freeze challenge. We try to spend as little as possible and keep the grocery budget around $100 a week. I obviously went over on this week, but the following week I aimed for $75 and nailed it! If you want to check out my other blog posts about a spending freeze, you can see them: Spending Freeze Preparation, Spending Freeze Recap, Tips for Saving on Grocery Budget

We also closed on rental property #3 and got keys! This rental property has already been fixed up and was move in ready except for a few projects that Theo needed to complete. The day we got keys, we went to check out the house and Kiah promptly threw his brand new necklace on the roof. Of course Theo retrieved it.

I’m starting to find my groove in the classroom, but I’m still finding balancing everything a little bit of a struggle. Finding time to lesson plan and make copies is my biggest challenge. I’m thankful for a super supportive school who don’t view my children as a burden, but support me as I try to manage raising kids and teaching kids.

I spend my days not teaching still managing my house. I love a good before and after. One day my house will be clean and silent. But I bet on that day, I will miss this mess and the three little people who make the mess.

One day someone managed to lock the bathroom door from the inside and we couldn’t get into the bathroom. It’s a weird kind of lock that can’t be picked so we had to send a kid in through the window. Haha!

Some pictures from school. We LOVE our school!

September brought back the hikes! All of my children are excellent hikers and we love exploring all of our local trails!

We took a trip to The Learning Tree Farm and the kids were in heaven! We are seriously dreaming of the day when we can have a plot of land with a few animals.

We finished off September with a gorgeous wedding! Theo’s coworker got married and it was a blast to attend a wedding and just enjoy the night. It’s been a long time since we’ve had a night like that!

All of the squad at the wedding decided to kidnap the groom and steal his pants and shoes. They brought the pants and shoes back to the reception and told the guests that the groom wouldn’t be getting his pants and shoes back until his shoes were filled with money. At first people were unsure of what were happening, but Evan and Sydney had some fun guests and they really stepped up. The shoes were filled with over $300!

Kiah always keeps me laughing. I was making breakfast one morning and turned around to find this:

As we worked on getting our rental property rented, we got a message that someone on Craigslist had taken our listing and made their own (much cheaper) listing. We assume they were getting people to pay a deposit and then ghosting them. It felt so gross to have someone use our property for their scam! So we decided to have a little fun of our own…

We ended up contacting Craigslist who took it down right away, thankfully! And we now have a renter in the home- yay!!

That is a wrap on the busy and beautiful month of September! I am finally feeling close to being caught up on the blog so will hopefully be able to bring more frequent blog posts with less in them! Ha! If you’ve followed along until now, I think you deserve a prize!
