I am awake at 5am on this snowy Monday, ready to tackle another week…but also slightly intimidated by what this week could have in store for us. I’m also at the point of the year where my writing inspiration is minimal. I did fairly well in the month of January to consistently write and publish blog posts, but its safe to say my January momentum is wearing off and I’m a bit stuck. So today you just get a fun list of little things that are currently going on in our lives.

What We’ve Been Up To: Well, we have mostly been at home working through various illnesses. The kids have now been home for three weeks. It hasn’t been the most fun winter season on record for our family, but we are continuing to work through it. I don’t know if my kids will remember this time, but if they do, I hope that they remember all the snuggles and the cozy warmth inside our house. I hope they remember the audio books and the board games and the time that we spent together. I hope that they remember that Dad and Mom mustered up the energy to care for anyone who wasn’t feeling well as well as try to make life fun and consistent for anyone who was feeling well.

Currently I’m Loving: Snowy sunshine, cross stitching and blasting through some of the books I’ve had on my TBR for a long, long time. I love my childrens laughter and seeing my husband wake up at 5am to diligently work a job that has been incredibly difficult for 2+ years. I love walking into my classroom at school anticipating 8 hours spent with the rowdiest and most joyful bunch of kiddos. I also love the dead silence when the very last child leaves the room for the day. I love sitting my Mom’s couch knowing that she can still take care of me even though I’m a grown adult. All just average, normal things that I’m loving right now.

Currently Eating:

Monday: pork chops with rice

Tuesday: Taco Sloppy Joes

Wednesday: Chicken Enchiladas

Thursday: Spaghetti Carbonara

Friday: Mini Meatloafs with rice or pasta

Saturday: Pan Roasted Chicken Thighs

Sunday: Lunch at Moms house

Currently Dreading: 6 more weeks of winter :/

Currently Excited About: Hines Family reunion Up North, celebrating Valentines Day in my class, the weather getting warmer and the earth literally bursting into Spring.

Currently Watching/Reading: Theo and I just finished watching Designated Survivor. It was really great the first two seasons but we didn’t love the third season as much. It was VERY thought-provoking and we blew through all three seasons in the last six weeks! Once we finished it we weren’t sure what else to watch, so we went back to NCIS. I also have watched most of the LulaRich documentary, which was FASCINATING. And we are catching as much of the Winter Olympics as we can!

This past weekend I curled up in bed and read a ton of books. I finished Kill Reply All, Beautiful World Where Are You?, The Love Hypothesis, and Subpar Parks. I also started on Beartown and a nonfiction reference type book called “The World of Laura Ingalls Wilder”. Some of those books were much more enjoyable than others ha.

Currently Listening to: Theo got me an under the counter radio for Christmas, so I’m usually listening to the Christian radio station. While I’m running I listen to “Upbeat Country Hits” on Spotify and when we are in the car I am either listening to a podcast or the radio. The kids and I have also been enjoying listening to the Little House on the Prairie series on audio.

Currently Wearing: When was the last time I left the house again? Not quite sure. I’m mostly wearing sweats and sweatshirts with my hair up in a pony and absolutely zero makeup on. On work days I dress professionally, but change almost as soon as I get home. If I’m going out, I throw on a pair of jeans and a sweater-top that looks a bit nicer than a sweatshirt. And if we are going to the park, I put on about 4 layers of pants and bundle myself up as much as possible!

Currently Thinking: About all the order I want to restore to my life after the last few months of sickness and chaos. I am woman who thrives on routine so not having one has been really tough. I want to have people over to my house again and be able to regularly attend church and school functions. I want all my kiddos to be back in school consistently and to thrive instead of feel like we are lagging two steps behind. I want to get back to cooking dinner and working out and spending time together as a family doing fun things!

Currently Buying: I ordered some Valentines for my kids to take to school but they haven’t arrived yet! I also just ordered myself some snow boots. I am the only one in the family who doesn’t have boots and it has made playing outside this winter hard! Of course, now that I have ordered the boots I bet that we will have little to no more snow haha.

*We canceled our Prime subscription about 8 months ago and haven’t regretted it at all! I still do order some things on Prime but just select the free shipping option and it typically takes 2-5 days to arrive.
