March Rewind

How is March already over? And yet….that felt like a very long month.

March is kind of the calm before the storm for our family. In April, we start to get a lot more events on the calendar as the weather gets nicer and we get outside. And then May is the end of the school year insanity that always flies by. March is usually a gamble- will we have really nice weather and be outside most of the time, or will still be snowed in?

Turns out, this March was a little bit of both. Here are some of the fun memories:

  1. 1. Running and Riding with my boy

Kiah is quite the little athlete and also has endless energy. We recently discovered that he can ride his bike while I run and it is SO FUN. For this run, he paced me at about 8:50 min/mile and we went 3 full miles. He wasn’t even tired at the end haha! It really helps to have beautiful weather and get outside, too.

  • 2. Curb Finds.

Spring is the best time to find other people’s trash and make it our own treasure :). We love finding curb finds- we also found a couch that is not pictured here.

  • 3. THE WEATHER.

We had a STUNNING 75 degree day. It was so gorgeous. We even had to dig out some shorts for the kids. We went for a long hike with my parents and our moods were all so uplifted.

Don’t worry…it has snowed 3x since then. BOO.

  • 4. Daddy Daughter Dance

Theo and Tera went to the Daddy Daughter Dance at school. It was a glow dance, and according to Theo the girls danced HARD for 2 hours, then Tera nearly fell asleep standing up. Haha.

  • 5. Books.

I’m still loving books. Still reading voraciously. I read some duds this month but did end the month on a very high note with one of my favorite reads this year!

  • 6. Normal Days

We also fit in allll the normal stuff like playing dress up at home, going to the library, having play dates, visiting parks and of course our favorite bookstore.

  • 7. 3rd Annual Ladies Weekend

For the past two years, I have gone on a weekend getaway with three of my church friends. The first time, we had every hour of our itinerary planned and did tons of fun stuff in Cincinnati. We even had spreadsheets. The second time we went to Columbus and chilled a little bit more, but still had some fun stuff on the itinerary. This time? We started planning the trip two weeks before. We stayed at the summer home of one of the in-laws. We had ZERO things on the itinerary. We went out for brunch and dinner and otherwise sat around the house and RESTED. It was also freezing that weekend so two of us did go for a long walk, but otherwise it was purely rest. And I really didn’t know how badly I needed that until it happened. We had some good conversations, played a game, and encouraged one another.

  • 8. School Things

It’s amazing how much we manage to cram into the last 2 months of school. HA. One day, we made Stone Soup as a class. It was so much fun. Also so much chaos. And then there was a school tour riiiiighhhtt when I was starting to think I had lost control of my entire class. So that was fun. Those prospective students are probably not interested in our school anymore LOL. We also go to on a class field trip/play date to John Bryan State Park and hike around. Tera has been working on her school projects as well and got make a personal timeline. It surprised me which life events she picked as monumental (like trying on my wedding dress) when to me that was a normal Tuesday.

  • 9. Hiking

The first two weeks of the month were beautiful, but the last two weeks of the month have been horribly cold and dreary again. We are not pleased with this, but we are trying to make the best of it. One of our local parks has an Easter egg hunt where you can hike all over the park and find these giant cardboard eggs. Well, it has turned out to be quite the challenge and we have spent way more time that we should running all over this park to find these eggs. As I type this, Theo and the kids are out hiking it one more time to find the very last egg!

And that was our March! We are excited for April and warm weather and some of the fun things that we have on our calendar coming up!
