Friday Favorites

Here are some of my favorites from this past week!

  1. 1. PIGGIES

The latest addition to our homestead is three little pigs! They have affectionately been named Cupcake, Fruitcake and Poundcake. One of them will fill our freezer for the winter and the other two will provide us some piglets in the Spring! They are a mix of Kune-Kune and American Guinea Hog so they will remain a smaller breed. They were born in April and have been raised with kids and so far are very sweet and friendly!

  • 2. A difficult no & staying home

This isn’t exactly a favorite, but in some ways I am proud of myself for knowing my own boundaries. This past weekend, I was supposed to drive to Charlotte to visit one of my very dear friends. I had packed the night before, but was feeling really unsettled and stressed about the long drive. I woke up in the morning and was so out of sorts. I almost felt panick-y about leaving. I got out of the shower and told Theo I think I needed to stay home. There was no “clear reason” to stay, I just knew that I needed to stay. Still, it was a really hard no and there was a lot of disappointment. I’m glad I trusted my limits and decided to stay home, though.

  • 3. Flowers & Dreaming

The kids and I explored a local garden center and I set about dreaming of what kind of landscaping I would like to have around here. So many pretty options! Also so expensive!

  • 4. Cousins

We had a BLAST with a visit from the cousins! We celebrated Aunt Sarah’s birthday and had a blast spending hours and hours outside. Also- we hit 500 hours outside this year! So we are officially halfway to our goal of 1000!

  • 5. Running Routine

When we went on our anniversary trip to Florida, I really got back into running. It was so nice and easy without having to coordinate children’s schedules around my runs. But even since we have been back I have been trying to consistently run every other day!

  • 6. #Clearthelist

There is this big movement going around to help #clearthelist of teachers. I love this idea but also feel terrible about asking anybody to buy me supplies for my classroom. On the other hand, people assume that since I teach at a private school, I make a lot of extra money. Trust me…I don’t. I am linking my list here, but only help clear the list if you really feel compelled- and always, always clear the list of your kids own teachers before buying for a random teacher you know online!

  • 8. Checking Out Puzzles from the Library

Another happy of my week is discovering that my library has puzzles to check out! They also have a great selection of board games. I love puzzles and find them so relaxing, so I was thrilled to check this one out and work on it! I am hoping to work through their whole collection.
