Back in February (which seems like a lifetime ago!), some school friends/co-workers threw a baby sprinkle for me!
A “sprinkle” is a baby shower, but is supposed to be light on the gifts. It’s often for a Mom who already has kids and doesn’t need many material things. It’s often a time to just celebrate the new life of a baby and give diapers or no gifts at all.
Well, as my Mom said, this baby sprinkle ended up being more of a baby downpour! These school and church friends SHOWED UP and SHOWERED us bountifully.
This was such a huge blessing in more ways than one. First, we had actually gotten rid of ALL of our baby stuff. I mean…the equipment, the clothes….everything. I didn’t want the focus of this shower to be all about gifts, but there was so much that we actually did end up needing. And there was SO MUCH given to us.
Second, our family has gone through a huge time of transition in the past year. Not only did we move out to our homestead, but we also left our church that we had been attending for 11 years. This church had been my support system for all of my other babies, and even though we have found a new church that we love, building relationships takes time. Going into this pregnancy, one of my fears/struggles was that it felt like we had our lost our primary support system, and I didn’t know how that could be replaced. So this baby sprinkle was kind of a sweet reminder from the Lord that we are actually not alone.
The baby sprinkle was simple and sweet and we all had a blast. Here are some pictures that were taken during the shower…

So many people showed up, I was honestly just so blown away!

The gifts were AMAZING. As a fourth time Mom, I knew what I wanted and what I didn’t, so most people stuck to my registry but there were also so many other fun gifts sprinkled in. One of my absolute favorites was that one of our high schoolers, Gwen, MADE this adorable little farm outfit for Orion. It’s still a bit big for him, but I cannot wait to put it on him!!! It’s adorable!!!

My favorite gift was that the party organizers had everyone write down a favorite verse or encouraging thought for me to have with me while I was in labor. I didn’t actually end up using them during labor, but I did read through them multiple times in those last few difficult weeks of my pregnancy, and they were so encouraging and uplifting.

I had so many special guests!

Finally, I just want to say a huge THANK YOU to these ladies who planned, decorated, and did all the one million little details to put this shower together. It was so lovely and I know that hours and hours of work went into it! They each had a kiddo in my 1st grade class this year…did I mention how much I love our school community? The fact that the school doesn’t just function as an educational institution, but also as a support system and that there is so much care and attentiveness to one another’s personal lives just continues to humble me and blow me away!
