Just a quick little link up blog post with Andrea today to talk about some of my favorite things lately!
- Glasses
Ezra had to get glasses last week! Thankfully, we caught the eye issue early and are hopeful that glasses and maybe some patching will get his vision headed in the right direction. Also thankfully he loves his glasses and hasn’t had a hard time keeping track of them! My Mama heart took the glasses a bit hard. It feels like this kid has had to deal with more medical issues than normal and I felt like getting glasses took away some of his childhood innocence. But at least he looks absolutely adorable!!

2. Good Weight for Orion!
Ori had his two month check up and everything is looking good and healthy! I was a bit nervous because he hadn’t hit his birth weight milestone at his two week appointment. I mostly have horrible memories of when Kiah was diagnosed failure to thrive and I was worried that Orion wasn’t going to have gained enough weight and I really didn’t want to go down that journey again. Thankfully, he’s doing great and his weight was not an issue!

3. One Year on Our Homestead
I know I already wrote a whole blog post about this, but I still cannot believe that we have lived on our homestead for one full year! And so much has happened in that one year…

4. Garden
I actually planted a garden this year! I went to a garden shop and bought starts and stuck them in the ground. I have always been a pretty neglectful gardener, but this year I am trying to keep it really easy and simple. My goal is to harvest two things from the garden.

5. Dishes + Prayer
I posted on Instagram earlier this week about how I skipped doing dishes one day and then had a MOUND of dishes to do the next. Many of you were appalled that I don’t have a dishwasher and that I have to stand and do that many dishes each day (a family of 6 makes a lot of dishes!). I also used to hate doing the dishes, but I actually don’t mind so much now. At the beginning of this year, I decided to try habit stacking and post my prayer list and a memory verse next to my sink so that I can work on praying + scripture memory while I’m washing dishes. I’m not always great at doing it, but I love having the little reminder there while I do the dishes each day.

P.S. My friend Tam reminded me that I probably got this idea from the book “The Practice of the Presence of God” which is about a monk whose job at the monastery is washing dishes…and he chooses this time to spend in prayer.
6. Dragons Game and alllll the end of the school year fun!
Last night we stayed out way too late at a Dayton Dragons game. I did not take one single picture, but I did have a friend take this picture of me and baby Orion!

And that is all for today! Our next week is going to be SO BUSY- we have a playground playdate today, church on Sunday, my birthday on Monday, school on Tuesday, Field Day on Wednesday, last day of school + ceremony on Thursday, School Cleaning Day on Friday, Bonfire Night on Saturday, and getting together with our cousins on Sunday. We will be so ready to crash into summer break…and we have almost NOTHING on the calendar for our summer!
