Hello Friday! It’s safe to say we are officially into summer! We have had lots of things to do for the month of June like playdates, VBS, Safety Town, Grandparents visiting, etc. We have really only had one week of nothing much on the calendar. I think it’s really good to have a balance of entertaining/busy things and nothing at all. Now actually finding that perfect balance- I’m not sure I have that one figured out!
Here are some of our favorites that we have been doing lately!
- Sugarcreek Bird Farm. I finally got to visit the Sugarcreek Bird Farm! It is a pet store, but they allow the customers to visit and interact with the birds. They have ALL kinds of amazing birds and we got to hold and talk to so many of them on our short visit! We will certainly be back. I absolutely LOVE birds and how colorful their feathers are…but I will never own an indoor pet bird because they are so messy and stinky!
2. Eggs! Our junior chickens started to lay eggs and now I’m getting about two dozen eggs a day. It’s SO fun going out to the chicken coop and the barn and picking up eggs every day. It’s by far my favorite chore 🙂
3. Getting together with friends. I LOVE summer because I LOVE hosting outside. I feel kind of stressed about hosting inside and I never have enough seating…but in the summer, I can just invite a bunch of people over and tell them to bring their lawn chairs. This past week we had people over on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday! This is my friend Christine. Four years ago, we had our babies (Ezra and Adam) 24 hours apart. Fast forward four years and we AGAIN had our babies (Orion and Jonah) 12 hours apart!! How wild is that?
4. The first three weeks of June we had a major drought with not a single drop of rain. Then it rained like once and the clouds haven’t cleared for like a week! This means that I’ve been wearing SWEATERS and long pants (in JUNE!). But one of my favorites is shorts and a long sleeved t-shirt. I don’t know what it is about that outfit combo that I love so much. Anybody else?
5. The Beach and Other Summer Things. We have been going to our local lake to hang out at the beach. We haven’t had great weather for it yet this summer, but the kids still have a blast playing in the sand. We also went to a local flea market and I rewarded the kids at the end with some shaved ice.
6. NEW BOOKSHELVES! Truthfully, I don’t love my house (we bought it for the land and the location, and I can totally live with the house, even if it’s not my favorite). The layout doesn’t make much sense and there is an extra room that used to be the garage that the previous owners turned into a room. It’s become our dining room/school room/mud room/play room…it’s kinda an everything room and I just haven’t figured out how to actually make it WORK. But the first step towards my vision was installing these bookshelves! It’s not all done, but boy do I LOVE them!
7. Baby Snuggles. Probably baby snuggles will be in my Friday Favorites until I can no longer call this one a baby. He’s SO sweet and his skin is still so baby soft and he is starting to get little rolls on his cheeks and legs and he’s just SO DELICIOUS. We love our baby Orion!
