Friday Review (On a Sunday)

What a week!!! I mean….what a week. There is a good reason I’m two days late to even getting this post written….

Friday

We are well into basketball season and it has been SO FUN..but also so much work as a parent. Two kids means two separate practices and two separate game days each week. And on top of that, the regular practices keep getting cancelled and new ones keep getting scheduled. This is a new program for our school, so we are really working out the issues, and it’s going GREAT…but also a lot of work. So Friday found us at a random rescheduled practice.

Saturday

We had a basketball game to get to, but otherwise it was a (much needed!) cozy day at home. I even got to sit on my bed and just read a book (or two).

Sunday

I didn’t take a single picture on Sunday! We met up with a young college student I am mentoring, we went to church and then spent the afternoon at my parents house. My parents are heading overseas later in the week, and my FIL was also taking a trip overseas (both missions related to Africa) and I decided I wanted to climb into their suitcases and go with them!

Monday

Another day, another rescheduled basketball practice.

Tuesday

I should’ve just gone back to bed when the day started like this (dead van battery, very icy roads). Too bad Theo and I are responsible people and still got ourselves to work and all the kids to school! After being at school for about 3 hours, Kiah spiked a fever of 102 and everything went downhill from there…

P.S. Theo works security for our school, hence why he is open carrying, in case that alarmed you.

Wednesday

We went from bad to worse and 4/6 Hines were down with THE CRUD. Fevers were spiking, snot was running, misery was abounding. Most of the family slept wrapped up in blankets all day long. Ori’s fever spiked to 105 and that was scary. This was also the day I was supposed to drive my parents to the airport to leave for Africa. I told them they probably needed a Plan B since I wasn’t in any shape to drive anybody anywhere. Their pastor drove them, thankfully! Kiah hit the 24 hour mark of being sick. He went from laying on the couch sleeping all day, to jumping up and running around as if nothing had happened at all.

Thursday

Tera, Orion and I stayed home from work/school, while Theo, Kiah (fully recovered) and Ezra all went to school for the day. The big excitement of the day was our chicks hatching from our incubator! We had 8 hatch, and have lost one so far.

Friday

Almost everyone is back to being healthy, but we desperately needed one more day at home to catch up on everything we had missed when we were out of commission. Ori still has a lot of snot and congestion and is pretty high maintenance still. It snowed an inch and a half and I sent the kids outside to play! Our first “real” snowfall this year. Tera had missed her edible map project the day before, so we made it at home instead 🙂

And that is a wrap on our week! I am enjoying writing these posts and trying really hard to keep them short and sweet (that is not my blogging strong point). I like writing about the exciting, the mundane, and even the really hard weeks. It is helpful to me to know that I’m not always just going to share the highlight reel, but instead sharing what life is like as a family of 6 on just a regular, normal old week!

I understand the crud, we are hit hard with Influenza A right now. It seems that my littles are bouncing back the fastest. Mom on the other hand not so much.
