Summer Reading Guide Round-Up

If you know me, you that I love to read. I read in most spare chances I have, and when the kids and Theo go to bed around 9, I usually read for at least an hour to close out my day. But another hobby that I have that goes hand in hand with reading is organizing my reading lists. It’s a whole thing, y’all. I have a word document TBR list that is very long, and it’s alphabetized. I love grabbing the monthly issue of Book Pages from the library and perusing all the new releases. I listen to several book podcasts and glean TONS of new titles for my reading list. But my biggest reading adjacent hobby is summer reading guides.

I LOVE a good summer reading guide…and I actually usually end up reading these titles year-round!

So for today’s blog post, I thought I would share some of the summer reading guides that I love, and then finish off the post with 15 books that I plan to read this summer.

Some of these Summer Reading Guides are free, some are “pay what you will” and some are behind a paywall.

Everyday Reading

A FREE reading guide from my FAVORITE reading blogger. She has 20 books in five different categories, so the summer reading list also feels manageable. I always LOVE her reading recommendations and I find so many family friendly and great kid recommendations from here!

Goodreads Summer List

Goodreads can be hit or miss on their book lists, but I LOVED this list! So many great summer titles- both new releases and backlist!

Sunshine and Books

This is one of the bloggers that I follow regularly – for life AND bookish content! I love her summer reading list this year- mostly light and fun beach read- which let’s be honest- that’s what we ALL want on our summer reading lists! She also has summer reading lists dating all the way back to 2018, if you want to peruse those and get some more great ideas!

Modern Mrs. Darcy

This is a PACKED reading guide that I can tell the team at Modern Mrs. Darcy spent a long time working on! It has titles from every genre, most of them up and coming releases. There are some backlist books, too. This guide is $15, which I did indeed pay for! However, I don’t love the reading list as much as I would have hoped for that price. I think that Anne Bogel and I have different reading styles, and although they say there is something for every reader, I wasn’t as impressed as I would have liked for that price. Just my two cents!

There is also the minimalist summer reading guide, which pulls a few titles from the main reading guide and that one is FREE!

Thoughts From a Page

Although I don’t usually enjoy listening to author interviews, I love listening to this podcast! She does such a great job of reviewing books and interviewing authors…I am always adding books to my TBR after listening to an episode! She produces a “literary lookbook” which lists hundreds of new releases that are coming out over the summer. The literary lookbook is $10, and the summer reading guide is $7 (both worth that price, in my opinion!)

Kelly Hook’s Summer Reading Guide (this is free, but she does mention this in her caption: There is no set cost for the sole purpose of making it accessible to all readers. If it is within your budget to support my work and time, I would be so grateful for a tip via paypal, venmo, or Buy Me a Coffee website)

Sarah’s Bookshelves

This reading guide is free, as far as I can tell! If you want a printable option, though, you need to pay for it. I love this podcast SO much and get some great book recommendations from her!
