Friday Favorites- Winter Snap

Happy Friday, everyone! Is it Friday? I’m still trying to figure out what day of the week it is. Christmas break, Theo took time off work so he was home on days that he isn’t usually around, then we had two straight snow days and only two official school days this week…it’s safe to say that I have no idea what day/time it is!

It was fun to look back through pictures from this week and compile some of my favorites!

Favorite #1 – Cozy Things

We’ve been doing all the cozy things lately!

Fresh Eggs – Stovetop Mix on the Wood Burning Stove – Playing card games and sewing – Soup and Grilled Cheese – Puzzles

Favorite #2- Ice Skating

We typically go ice skating at our downtown Metropark ice skating rink. This year we made it happen on New Years Eve! We dropped the baby off with my parents, went ice skating, and then met back up with my parents for dinner at our house.

Favorite #3- New Year’s Day hike

New Year’s Day fell on a Wednesday, so we got out there for a hike! It was cold and the trail we tried to go to was closed so we ended up just walking on the bike path. A short ways down the bike path we came across a marked trail into the woods so we took it! It went up, up, up, up some really steep steps and hills, and ended with an incredible overlook of a nearby valley. Of course, in the winter it’s kinda meh….but we will revisit this one in the Spring and I’m sure it will be stunning!

Favorite #4- Books and Planners

I’m not sure if it’s the cozy time I’ve been indoors this past week, but I have been on a reading roll and loving almost every book that I pick up! I love my planner from Little Inkling Design. I love that it is both a regular life planner and has tons of extra pages for book lists, book wishlists, book reviews, book plans…all the bookish things!

Favorite #5- SNOW

We got a big old snow that dumped about 9 inches on us! It was hard to get a good measurement because the wind blows so strongly across the cornfields that we had some drifts over 2 feet and some spots that were barely even covered! It was beautiful and we were truly snowed in for two days! Theo actually took some time off work and I am so glad he was home instead of stuck at work!

Favorite #6- Snowy hike

On Wednesday we ventured out for a snowy hike! It was BEAUTIFUL. That might have been one of my favorite hikes ever. What the pictures don’t show is that the children were having a “fighty” day and Theo and I wondered if we are going to survive parenting. HA.

Favorite #7- Snow Ice Cream

On our first day back to school my co-teacher and I decided to be brave and try to make snow ice cream with our class! It went SO well! The kids LOVED it! I used this recipe, which was so simple. This was also great because I have a couple students with allergies and I was able to just give them a bowl of snow with sprinkles! No allergies in snow for the win!
