I feel like Ohio gets a lot of flack for just being…Ohio. However, I have found that Ohio is a pretty great place to live!
We get all four seasons here. While I don’t love winter, I have really learned to enjoy the changing of the seasons and the process of living through each of them.

We have a relatively low cost of living here. I am so thankful for that! I know that housing, groceries and even academic/athletic fees are about as reasonable as they can be in this day and age!
We live very close to an Air Force Base, so we tend to get a lot of military people around here. This can have some pros and cons, but I love so many of the people I have met who have come here because the military brought them here. Many of them have chosen to stay! Plus, the moving sales and garage sales are pretty great haha!
One of the best parts of where we live is that we are right in the country, but SO close to stores, restaurants and general society. We are also 30 minutes from Cincinnati and 30 minutes from Dayton, so we can easily have all the excitement of the city if we really want. We have museums, zoos, professional sports teams, an amusement park and TONS of things to do. And, yet…we live on 5 quiet acres and have our chickens, pigs, a garden and a sunflower field.

One of the most hidden gems of our area is all the parks and trails. My readers have heard all about our family hiking adventures, but our parks and trails really are amazing. Considering the fact that we don’t have any mountains and no natural lakes in Ohio, our parks systems have done an amazing job creating trails and wonderful places to find nature.

Another hidden gem that we have our is our library systems! We LOVE our libraries, and have been members at 4 different library networks over our years here.

Of course, I couldn’t talk about where we live without mentioning our school. So many people I talk to say “I wish we had a school like that here”. And it is not lost on me how amazing it is that we attend a school that supports both homeschoolers and people who want a more private school education. It is not lost on me that I get to teach part time (that is absolutely unheard of unless you tutor), that my kids get to be in a classroom but also get to be homeschooled. I love that our school has athletics and academics, and so many people who love the Lord and value community.

So, what is unique about where you live? Anything the same as our local, or do you have major differences? I’d love to hear!

That does sound wonderful!
