When I was growing up, we had two seasons: hot season and rainy season. “Cold season” was also a thing, but the highs were in the 80s and lows would mayyyyyybe reach the 50s (think similar to Florida weather). Nothing was built around the seasons. The clothes I wore could be worn year-round, other than one or two sweatshirts that I wore in January in the mornings. The events we planned and the sports we played could be year-round, other than maybe trying to avoid May (hot season) for anything that was outside.
Needless to say, when I came to the States at 18 years old, I had a hard time adjusting to the fluctuation in seasons. I couldn’t wrap my mind around the fact that you could go kayaking in the summer but had to go ice skating in the winter. I struggled to dress myself warm enough in the winter, because I assumed that the shirts I wore in the summer would be just fine as long as I had a winter coat to go over them.
Thankfully, I’ve pretty much fully adjusted and now having four seasons is one of my favorite things. God really is good to lead me into maturity in that area!! I enjoy living in Ohio where we truly experience all four seasons.
Today’s blog post prompt is to list some of the things that we enjoy doing in each season, and this was a fun post to brainstorm!

In case you can’t tell, we love to maximize our time outside, no matter the season! I can’t wait to hear what everyone else is to up to during each season and maybe I’ll add some more ideas to my list. Most of our months are very full, but January and February can get reallllllly slow and boring if I’m not intentional about finding things to do and ways to pass the time!

You have lots of wonderful activities each season! I find January and February to be some of the longest and most boring months too. I feel so cooped up inside when our weather is at its most miserable.
I find myself missing the years when my kids were younger and we did things all together. Our time with extended family has also changed because we live near my husband’s side and my parents have a small home so they can no longer host. We had a lot more traditions built in throughout the year when we were traveling to see family. Now our schedule is based on our kid’s schedules and our ministry schedule. We need to grow in making our own traditions to enjoy each season. We never have slow months so I would love a January and February with nothing to do but read and enjoy the winter weather. 😊
