Tickled Pink Hodgepodge

Here are the questions to this week’s Hodgepodge. Answer on your own blog then hop back here on Wednesday (February 11) to add your link to the party. See you there!

1. What’s something recent that had you ‘tickled pink’?

On Saturday I went to a salon to celebrate my friend’s birthday and had my nails done! I wasn’t feeling in the mood for a pedicure, so I opted for a basic manicure and got this delightful color of pink on my nails! It made me so happy!

2. A bed of roses, everything’s coming up roses, every rose has it’s thorn, stop and smell the roses, rose-colored glasses, a rose among thorns…which rosy expression might currently be applied to your life in some way?

I think “stop and smell the roses” is the one that I am going to go with! It’s something that I am working and striving for…finding joy and contentment in whatever the circumstances are around me. I’m in a stage where it is SO busy and it is easy to just fly through the day going from one activity/chore to the next, but I am trying to learn to stop and smell the roses and savor these days instead of just being insanely stressed about every little thing.

I’ve been just hoping and waiting for Spring to come. But instead of just wallowing around waiting for Spring, I’ve decided to make an effort to go for a daily walk now. These two joined me yesterday!

3. What makes you feel loved and appreciated?

I’m a big gifts person- but it doesn’t have to be a BIG GIFT, ya know? It makes me feel so loved when someone kind of goes out of their way to appreciate me. Yesterday at school I went to heat up my lunch and opened my lunch box to find that my glass container had shattered. I couldn’t eat my lunch and I had recess duty, so I didn’t have time to run out and grab a new lunch. Theo went and grabbed me a hot lunch (thankfully it was hot lunch day- that doesn’t happen everyday!) and brought it to me. I felt so loved and appreciated!

4. A box of chocolates or a bouquet of fresh flowers-what’s your pleasure? Any special plans for Valentine’s Day?

I would love a nice potted plant instead of fresh flowers, but at this point I’ll take any thoughtful gift! No special plans for Valentines this year- after a really busy weekend last weekend, we actually have a slow weekend with one kid off on a retreat and only two basketball games. It’ll be a treat to just mostly be at home!

5. Share a favorite quote, scripture, or song lyric relating to love.

There is a hymn that I learned recently called “All Glory Be to Christ” and it’s sung to the tune of Auld Lane Syne. This is one of the verses:

His will be done
His kingdom come
On earth as is above
Who is Himself our daily bread
Praise Him the Lord of love
Let living water satisfy
The thirsty without price
We’ll take a cup of kindness yet
All glory be to Christ

All glory be to Christ our King
All glory be to Christ
His rule and reign will ever sing
All glory be to Christ

6. Insert your own random thought here.

This weekend I got to compete in a puzzle competition! It was SO FUN! If you love puzzling and a little bit of adrenaline, I highly encourage signing up for one! The first four finishers from the first round got to advance to the second round. Well, we were team #4 to finish and we made it to the 2nd round! Then they handed us our second puzzle- and it had no picture/box (the box you see in the second photo was the box from our first puzzle. My friend Jess dumped the pieces in her purse so we could use the box as sorting trays)! We just had to figure it out…… It was so hard, but we had a blast. We quit after 1.5 hours of working on the peacock puzzle :/. Every time I look at that picture I just want to go back and finish it..it’s driving me crazy that we didn’t get more pieces in haha!
