April in Review

Whew! April was a DOOZY! It had some high highs and some low lows, and a lot of normal life in between.

We started April out with a little day trip to Columbus to hang out with our cousins, who were traveling from out of state for their Spring Break. We played at the hotel pool, got pizza, caught up on life, and then drove back home. We were so exhausted that we crashed on the couch and watched the Artemis II launch- and we happen to feel quite fond of the name of the space capsule 🙂

The next day was the beginning of our couples getaway weekend, and also the day that I broke my elbow. The pain was A LOT for the first 10 days, so those days were kind of a blur.

I don’t think I shared on the blog this note that the doctor wrote for me. We were all laughing so hard that he actually wrote it after I joked that I just needed a doctors note to show my kids that I can’t do the dishes.

April also held Easter Sunday- which this year was admittedly a bit of a bummer day. It didn’t feel like a celebration, but all these events and hardships that have come are exactly WHY we have such hope in Christ and his resurrection. So, we celebrate, even when we don’t exactly feel like it!

My Dad has also been going through a significant health concern, and things have moved both very slowly and extremely quickly. He has been diagnosed with cancer, although at the time of this writing we still don’t know what type of cancer. He has already had surgery to remove the mass that was growing, and thankfully the surgery went really well. If you think of my Dad, and our whole family, we would appreciate prayers over this situation! One of the days that we went to visit my Dad, my parents were having their roof redone, so that was great entertainment for the kids (not as great entertainment for someone laid up in bed listening to all the pounding all day haha).

On a positive note: I finally finished the butterfly cross stitch project I’ve been working on since summer of 2021! There are 10 butterflies total, so I averaged about 2 a year. The last one was the hardest one, because for whatever reason the pattern had the flower on the left instead of the right. I could have just done it as the pattern presented, but that would have driven me nuts that 9 butterflies had the flower on the right side, and one had it on the left. So, I had to mirror image my pattern as I went. It was a great mental feat!

Just some fun snaps from my camera role that have no interesting story accompanying them:

In April, we also attended the Walk for Life, which is an event that collects money for our local crisis pregnancy center. We collected money and attended the Walk for Life, along with several hundred other people.

Tera and I also attended the local Vintage Market Days market! It is so fun, with so many booths and things to see! I am HERE for the repurposed quilts- I saw them on so many things!

I didn’t run at all in the month of April, but with a half marathon coming up, I knew that I needed to do a shakeout run. It was the most beautiful sunrise that day and I’m so glad that I got out there and ran! Praise the Lord, my elbow felt good!

The rest of the snaps from my camera roll look something like this:

  1. Pictures that I text to my doula clients 🙂
  2. I got Chipotle for lunch one day because we had storms come through and lost power. I could have made a sandwich, but that did not appeal to me so I went out and got Chipotle. Of course, the minute I sat down to dig in, the power came back on (it was out for about 11 hours).
  3. I enjoyed finding this peaceful moment of Ezra reading a book in his clean room. I think they will love looking back at pictures like these and seeing how they decorated their rooms and the toys/sheets/things that they had.
  4. Our piggo is preggo! She’s due sometime in the next 10 days. Did you know that pigs have a really fun gestation time? A pig is pregnant for 3 months, 3 weeks and 3 days, or a total of 114 days. But the 3/3/3 thing is way more fun to say (and easier to remember).

And that is a wrap on April! We are only 4 days into May, but it’s already shaping up to be FULL of all kinds of fun!
