Quarterly Goal Check-In #2

Can you believe we are already almost through June?!? 2018 has been a totally unexpected roller coaster of a year for us, and I just cannot believe it’s already half over. Half of me also can’t believe that it’s ONLY half over. How have we crammed so much into the last six months?

Today I’m coming back to revisit my yearly goals and see if I have accomplished any more of the goals for the year. June is the perfect month for hitting reset and revisiting those goals that we made back at the beginning of the year when everything was so fresh and new. It’s the perfect time to reevaluate and decide if the goals are worth pursuing or if they need to be let go. It’s also the perfect time to remind ourselves of how we wanted to start, and even if we have completely forgotten what our goals were and that we wanted to achieve them, now is the perfect time to start all over again!

If you want to read my original goals for 2018, you can find them here.

If you want to read my first quarterly goal check from March of 2018, you can find that here.

It’s safe to say that I haven’t accomplished many goals since March. I accomplished one thing that I was never expecting to work towards this year, and that is growing a healthy baby.

Blog

  • Host a SW Ohio Blog Meetup! (Nope. This thought hasn’t even crossed my mind in the last three months).
  • Redesign Blog (In process!)
  • Be on a podcast (EEKS! Half of the podcast I will be on has been recorded, but it won’t come out until Fall!)
  • Make $300 (Nope. Now that I feel better I would like to try again for this one)
  • Publish a book (Work in progress!)

Marriage

  • Get away for a weekend (24 Kid-Free Hours in Cincinnati)
  • Do monthly AT HOME date nights (We started the year off strong, but I need to come back around to this one)
  • Complete a 30 day marriage challenge (Not done yet)
  • Build a habit of praying together each night (Ugh. We don’t even get to see each other at night, so this one needs to be evaluated)

Household

  • Decorate basement/Make it more homey
  • Redo Heavenly’s room (We actually did do this, and now it makes me sad just to think about it)
  • Set up a blog, homework and preschool station (Nope. But I have pinned some ideas to Pinterest!)
  • Hang updated family pictures  (does leaning them up on the mantle count?)

Personal

  • Run a half marathon (It’s safe to say this won’t be happening lol)
  • Read 40 books (31/40)
  • Use a babysitter to get out with ladies 1x a month (Done, Done, Haven’t used a babysitter since February)
  • Join a book club (Yes!)
  • Find a cute haircut & maintain it (I’ve gotten my hair cut twice this year and need to go in for a third!)
  • Send 2 handwritten cards a month (I’ve been working hard on bringing back this skill)
  • Memorize 2 Bible chapters (Well, this is for sure one I need to work on)

Financial

  • Pay off the loan we took out for the basement (Getting close!)
  • Make enough monthly income from our AirBnb to pay the mortgage (Each month of this year has brought in enough to pay the mortgage, but we are putting it all directly towards our loan)
  • Tithe 10% of our income
  • Live 20% below our income
  • Save enough money for a down payment on a rental property (Working towards paying off that loan and then we will be able to put more towards savings)

Kids & Family

  • Go on a family vacation (Planned for August!)
  • Get passports for my kids (I’m ashamed that my kids don’t have passports…the MK in me has failed!) (Nope)
  • Find closure for Heavenly (Kind of? Sort of? Not the kind of closure we were all thinking of, but she is in a place where she is happy)
  • Do 4 days a week preschool with Tera (we are talking 15-20 mins here people, calm down) (Eh. I’ve struggled a bit with this one. Some weeks I do really well with this, and some weeks I don’t do anything at all)
  • Memorize 10 Scripture verses with my kiddos (I think we have done one!)
  • Take in at least one temporary foster placement (HA. Burnout is real. This will most likely not be happening)
  • Run a color run with Heavenly
  • Go backpacking (Planning to go next week!)
  • Go to the Ohio State Fair (Also planning this for later this summer!)

June 2018: 12/34, with many more in progress. I still have some things that I need to be working on, but I’m actually impressed with my progress considering the fact that I’ve been completely out of commission for the past few months. I also know now what I need to work on and where I need to focus most of my energy.

How are your 2018 goals going?

Good job, Suuz! I am so impressed with your goal setting and accomplishments! As for the kids’ passports, wait till number three comes along and if possible co ordinate to be the same month as you or/and Theo. Makes renewing easier if they are all done at the same time! We actually forgot about Jayson’s and in was a month (while outside of the States) that he was without an up to date passport. Their Canadian ones are the same month, but some how Jayson’s American one got away from us! All good! He’s legal now!
