Friday Favorites – 1/10/20

It’s Friday! And it’s time for a roundup of my favorites from this past week!

I originally started writing this post last week, on the 3rd. I got about halfway through the post and then the kiddos all woke up and really needed me. Well, it turns out that they needed MORE than me because we ended up having to take Ezra to the hospital that day and he was admitted. Thankfully, just for 24 hours, but needless to say….I did not end up finishing this post blog post last week! So I just decided to publish it today and half the memories are from last week and half are from this week. Still totally relevant information, just in a bigger dose šŸ˜‰

FAVORITE MOMENT: It was so fun to take the kids to the library to celebrate Noon Year’s Eve! I’ve never been big on staying up super late partying, but I did find it funny that taking my kids to the library at noon was the highlight of my week. #Adulting

FAVORITE KID QUOTE: This one goes out to Tera. We were talking about our house selling and where we would move if it did sell. We were talking about pros and cons of buying/renting and location. Tera pipes up from the dinner table and says, dead serious:

“Mom. You get what you get and you don’t throw a fit.”

Well, she’s certainly not wrong!

FAVORITE VERSE: Theo and I have been reading through the Psalms, and Theo read one of my favorite Psalms to me the other night. Psalm 51:7-12

“Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean;
    wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.
Let me hear joy and gladness;
    let the bones you have crushed rejoice.
Hide your face from my sins
    and blot out all my iniquity.

10 Create in me a pure heart, O God,
    and renew a steadfast spirit within me.
11 Do not cast me from your presence
    or take your Holy Spirit from me.
12 Restore to me the joy of your salvation
    and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.”

FAVORITE PODCAST EPISODE: I slowed down on my podcast listening this past week, but I always listen daily to The Newsworthy Podcast with Erica Mandy. Her tagline is Fast, Fair, Fun and she presents in the daily news exactly as her tagline claims! Her daily podcast is under 10 minutes and it gives all the news- major headlines around the world, and not just depressing ones either! She does give the news, and some of it is sad. But many of the things she shares are also encouraging and fun! I love her podcast as well, because she doesn’t bring much bias into it. Obviously, we all have a little bit of bias, but she simply reports the story and explains how each side reacts to it. I highly recommend this podcast!

FAVORITE BLOG POST (that I read): Happy New Year Bible Recap from The Queen in Between. I LOVED her Instagram stories on this and am so glad she turned it into a blog post. She documents how she read through the Bible in the past year for the first time and how much it impacted her life. Just as a reminder: it’s not too late to start reading your Bible this year!

YOUR FAVORITE BLOG POST (that I wrote): Top 10 Blog Posts of the Decade

FAVORITE INSTAGRAM ACCOUNT: @everydayreading Someone recently shared this account with me and I have LOVE pretty much everything she puts out. I love her book recommendations, her honesty and her style! Plus, her reading log poster is INCREDIBLE and I can’t wait to get it printed out.

FAVORITE BOOK: Christmas at Beach Street Bakery

This was my last leftover Christmas book, and I loved it! It had just the right amount of drama and unpredictable turns to keep me entertained while also not requiring too much brain power from me. It is technically a Christmas book, but I think it could still be read any winter month. Or summer for that matter…but it is a cozy-up-by-the-fire book!

FAVORITE RECIPE: Easy Banana Muffins

Every Sunday night, I make a batch of muffins and we eat muffins and raid the cupboards for snacks as our dinner. These banana muffins are SO GOOD. Actually, it’s not so much the muffins, but the CRUMB TOPPING. Not healthy. Not anything free. But so good.

FAVORITE PRODUCT: I have a confession to make. I have yet to find a planner that I LOVE. I’ve come close a year or two, but there is always just one or two things that I wish I could change. I know that I could spend the moolah for a fancy customizable planner, but I’m not quite that desperate. The main issue for me in planners is that there are always five normal weekdays and then two teeny slots for the weekend. Well, that is not how our family schedule works. The thing that I usually end up doing is using my planner to record important monthly dates and then write my daily to-do list and menu plan. So this year I am trying something a little different by using this daily list planner and a plain month by month planner. So far my verdict is still out on whether or not I actually like this method, but I figured it was worth a try!
