Friday Favorites (On a Snowy Saturday)

Favorite Moment: I mean, it’s safe to say that the SALE of our home is the top moment of the year, so that is for sure the favorite moment of this past week!

Favorite Photo: I pulled out the old hard drive to look for the original photos of our house. Of course, the hard drive was extremely disorganized and I had to look through almost photo on there just to find what I was looking for. I found some real gems and had a great time going down memory lane.

This was the day before my wedding with my two best friends. We were friends long before this day and are still friends to this day!
So young. So naive. Had our first baby at 23 and four months later bought our first house.

Favorite Kid Quote: Kiah is in such a fun speaking stage right now. There was a point in time about a year ago that we weren’t sure that Kiah was going to speak at all, so these kid quotes are even sweeter on my ears than they normally would be.

Ezra: Sneezes directly at Kiah

Kiah: Mom! Ezra Blessyou’d on me!

Kiah: *Sneezes*. Dad! I need a Kleenex because I Blessyou’d snot!

My Favorite Blog Post (That I read): I loved reading this two-part series from The Lady Okie. She is a full time employed Mom, and her friend is a full-time stay at home Mom, and they each answer some of the questions that we all have about this divide between employed Moms and Stay at Home Moms. You can see Part 1 here and Part 2 here.

Your Favorite Blog Post (That I Wrote): SOLD (the LONG story of our house selling)

Favorite Instagram Account: I love following @sunnyinjune! She’s living the expat life in Singapore with her husband and three boys. She’s incredibly passionate about sustainable living, but in a realistic way. Plus, her sense of humor always has me at least smiling, if not full-on laughing!

Favorite Podcast Episode: You all know I love my Dayton Women in the Word! I love how much practical knowledge of HOW to study the Bible they give. I love their interviews of local people. I loved the introduction to this next season and the barriers that they talked about in studying God’s Word. I highly recommend giving it a listen, even if you aren’t a Dayton local!

You can hear my interview on DWITW here.

And please check out their Bible study tools here. Seriously a game changer in studying the Bible.

Favorite Book: I finally took the time to read Hillbilly Elegy. I know that people have been talking about this book for years, and memoir is my favorite genre. I knew a few things about this book going in, but the thing that surprised me the most is that the setting is actually right here in the Miami Valley. I knew that the book was about the Appalachian people, and I never considered this area of Ohio Appalachia. This book was very eye-opening to me and I enjoyed it and recommend it to anyone who hasn’t read it yet. I also highly recommend Educated, which has many similar threads.

Favorite Real Estate Find: We drove past this house and I want to buy it to turn it into a beautiful bed and breakfast! Now, where can I get 1.8 million dollars?

Favorite Recipe: I’ve really been trying to get back into the routine of menu planning and grocery shopping and actually cooking meals. In case I haven’t mentioned it, the last few weeks have been a bit chaotic around here! So this week I made this salmon recipe. So good!

Favorite Thing that I Wanted to Spend Money On, but I Resisted: Throw pillows. Throw pillows almost got me. We did end up purchasing a couch this week, even though we are on a spending freeze. We got a great deal on the couch and as we were picking up the couch I spotted some throw pillows that I absolutely adored. BUT I RESISTED! (For more info on the spending freeze, you can read this post).

Favorite Cookbook: I’ve been talking on Instagram about how to save money, and one of my top tips is to menu plan. I shared some of my favorite cookbooks and I thought I would also drop them here for you to see!
