Adventure Bible Review from Bible Gateway

We have a tradition in our family that each child gets their first real Bible the year that they turn 5. I do this for several reasons. First of all- how incredibly blessed are we that we live in a place and time that each member of our family can have a copy of God’s Word? It is not lost on me that there are people all over the world right now who would love to have a copy of God’s Word and cannot. I also think that it is incredibly important that my children have a full unabridged version of the Bible. We of course have lots of different types of children’s Bibles, but I want my kids to understand that the Bible is not just a series of watered-down stories. It is a full-fledged book full of God’s Word. It’s important. The reason that we give them a Bible around when they turn 5 is because that is typically the year that they begin to understand letters to words to sentences. Tera wasn’t able to read her Bible until much closer to 7, but I think it’s important for them to have a Bible when they start understanding how to learn to read.

So when Bible Gateway reached out to me and asked me to review this Bible, I was so happy to get one and gift it to Kiah. And what made me even happier is his reaction to receiving it! He was so delighted and the delight hasn’t worn off. He carries it to church and small group and even wanted to take it on our recent camping trip. He cannot read yet at all but he does sit and flip through the pages and look at the pictures.

The Bible is the New American Standard Bible and has a lot of fun features throughout. All of the pictures and text boxes are full color. Throughout the Bible there are features that help kids learn more about the text and what they are reading. There are articles pointing to the life in the Bible times, words and verses to treasure and memorize, as well as interesting Did You Know facts throughout the entire Bible. One of my favorite features is the highlights at the beginning of each book of the Bible, explaining why the book was written, who it was written to and what the main themes are.

If you are looking for a Bible for your children, I would highly recommend this one! I personally would recommend it from ages 5-13, as it is geared towards kids but is obviously a full fledged Bible.

You can purchase the Bible here at the FaithGateway store.
