Well, here I am again with another packed month to recap! Let’s check out some highlights of June 2022!
- 1. Outside Time.
At the beginning of June, we had barely 200 hours outside. But by the end of June we passed 400! We are basically outside from 8am until 9pm every day!
- 2. Enjoying our local fun, like the Dayton Dragons and walking around our cute new downtown.
- 3. Cherries and Mulberries!
We discovered we have a cherry tree and several mulberry trees! We tried to harvest what we could and creatively cook it, but I will admit I was very underprepared! Next year I’ll be much more prepared for cherry and mulberry season!
- 4. Learning to Mow
I learned to mow with our zero turn mower! I discovered it’s a lot of fun! If we mow all five of our acres, it takes about 3 hours.
- 5. Mucking the goat stall to make a chicken coop
We spent a lot of time cleaning all the poop and pee out of the former goat stall to turn it into a chicken coop. We were on a time crunch because the chicks were getting too big for their container in my bathroom. Man, it was a LOT of work and a very gross job!!
- 6. Chicks!
We started with 14 chicks and one died. Once we finished our chicken coop we realized we could handle a lot more chickens, so Theo went back to the store and bought 19 more! We now have 32 chickens (although at the time of this writing, one seems to be missing)
- 7. Other Animals
When I look through my photos from June, I seem to have a lot of pictures of my children hanging out with animals….
- 8. CHESS Women’s Retreat
It was such a blessing to attend the 2nd annual CHESS women’s retreat! It’s always such a treat to hang out in such a beautiful setting and chat with other like-minded women. What a blessing our school community is!
- 9. Wedding Dress Shopping
I went wedding dress shopping with this beautiful bride! We had QUITE the adventure, let me tell ya. And everyone will just have to wait until October to see what she ended up with!
- 10. Anniversary Trip + Grandma and Grandpa Time
Theo and I took our 10 year anniversary trip to Florida while the kids hung out with my parents and then Theo’s parents. Fun was had by everyone! Kiah did have a skateboard crash on his very last day with the grandparents, but he has healed up nicely and doesn’t seem to be too emotionally scarred from it!
- 11. Trip to Cleveland
We took a day trip up to Cleveland to visit Josh and Jamie and new baby Judah! We spent most of the day at the zoo and lots of time just catching up.
- 12. Cousin Time!
When we got back from our anniversary trip, we met up to pick the kids up at my brother and sister in laws house! The kids had a blast with cousins, swimming in the pool and snuggling their cat.
- 13. Downtime
We did not have much downtime in June, but we did manage to squeeze some in! The kids had VBS, we spent time in our tiny pool, we picked some wildflowers, had some guests over, read some books, got ice cream, and worked on lots of homestead chores!
And that is a wrap on June! What a full but wonderful month!!!
