Priming Lately

I always find it so interesting to see what other people are ordering online. To be completely honest, I am not much of an online shopper and we don’t even have a Prime membership, but I can (and still do) occasionally order things on Amazon. There are some things that I just can’t find in the store, or I don’t want to go to five different stores to find what I am looking for ha! We also happen to have an Amazon credit card and every time we pay off the credit card, we get Amazon points. So here is a little peek into what we have ordered from Amazon in the past three months!

Grouping Sticks

I first bought these grouping sticks back in 2020 when I had my first classroom, and I used them for my class in 2020 and 2021, but needed to get some more for this year! I use these ALL DAY LONG at school. I write each student’s name on a stick and then use them to call on kids, put them in groups, etc. I can also pass them out and then group kids by the color stick or the number on the stick or the shape on the stick. Seriously a teacher tool that is a MUST.

Index Cards

One thing that I encourage in teaching first grade is having a weekly math fact and set of sight words. Since I teach at a hybrid school, I have to be a really good communicator about what I am expecting to be done at home. I’ve found that making the flashcards in class helps the students 1. recognize the words and 2. it really helps the parents know what sight words/math facts are expected to be reviewed at home that week. I grabbed a mega pack of index cards because with 22 students and about five sight words a week, we go through these FAST!

(Sorry, Amazon has no direct link to this product)

Shoe Shelf

One thing that has surprised me about moving to a homestead is how much harder it is to keep track of everyone’s shoes!!! We now all have muck boots as well as play shoes as well as school shoes and somehow the exact shoe that is needed is never anywhere to be found. We also have two doors- technically back door and back door but I only had one shoe shelf and everything was overflowing, so I wanted to snag another one. This shelf is cheaply made but it absolutely does the trick. It also came with four shelves, but I only put up three so that I can fit some taller shoes on the second shelf.

Prizes for My Prize Box

I needed to restock my classroom prize box and these grab bags are always a hit! I will say that the most popular item is by far the squishes, so when I need a restock again I’ll probably just grab a pack of those!

Stick On Nails

I have a deep desire to have really nice nails, but I am far to unmotivated to maintain them. Plus, I have found that most fake nails destroy my actual nails- they get all chippy and peely and painful. But I tried some stick on nails from Walmart and loved them! I wanted a little more color/variety, so I snagged this pack from Amazon. My review is that they are ok- they last about a week, but I do notice that they can catch and peel pretty quickly if I’m washing the dishes a lot, doing work with my hands, etc. So not great, but not terrible, either! I do love how many colors I got for the price!

Ear and Nose Hair Trimmer

Pretty self explanatory purchase…gotta trim those nose and ear hairs!

Bunny Food/Water

Tera got a bunny for her birthday, so we needed to grab the basics for food and water!

Work Flashlight for Theo

Theo carries 30+ pounds on his duty belt at work, and as you can imagine, it can cause some back pain. A lot of departments are switching to vest carry to offset the weight, but Theo’s department left it up to each officer and also they have to pay for it themselves if they want to switch. So instead Theo has been working to make everything he carries on his belt as lightweight at possible!

Classroom Calendar

I have learned that most daily use classroom things last about two years before they need to be switched out, and it was time for a new calendar! I honestly don’t love this one because it’s kind of small. But it will do for the next two years and then I’ll get another one ha!

Cross Stitch Fabric

My current cross stitch project is 10 butterflies. I bought the patterns on Etsy, but needed to buy the fabric and thread myself. I had some fabric that lasted through the first four patterns, but needed to order more for the last six butterflies. I will say this fabric is SO STIFF. It’s loosened up a lot now that I’ve been sewing on it, but before I start the next one I might soak it or try to find some safe way to loosen it up without shrinking or accidentally dying it!

Water Bottles

I ordered new water bottles for all three kids before they went back to school!

And that is what I have been ordering from Amazon lately! I love how random it all is. See anything that caught your attention?
