Friday Review- The Week We May Have Seen the Sun?

This past week had some really high highs and also some decently messy days as well. I *think* I even saw the sun once or twice! It is currently Friday morning- almost noon and I am just now sitting down to write my Friday blog post. I gotta admit, though, I am kind of patting myself on the back that I’ve kept up with this little mini series for five whole weeks now!

Friday

Schoolwork, chores…and then I got to have a Mom’s Night Out with some dear friends that I have not seen in way too long! Were any of you on a group text message chat during the pandemic days that truly gave you life and got you through? Well, that was these ladies for me. We all had a similar life factor that has now changed, and we don’t have as much opportunity to see each other anymore, but our dinner out together was so sweet and so life-giving. These friends are gems.

Saturday

Basketball game for Tera, chores around the house…and I captured this picture of Orion and Noire standing very close to each other. Noire is my parents cat and we are taking care of her while they are on a 6 week long mission trip. Noire isn’t the friendliest of cats, so this was a BIG moment. She’s coming around, though and has started to be a little bit more cuddly and kind. Also, yes, Orion is very close to standing on his own and I *think* he will be walking by his first birthday.

Sunday

Sunday was a long day! We went to church in the morning, then came home for exactly 3 hours and then went back to church in the evening for a 2 hour long member meeting. Then back home for dinner and bedtime.

Monday

Homeschool day, catching up on baking and chores, then rushed off to school to catch Kiah’s basketball game. Home for our crockpot dinner and getting everything ready for school the next day, then off to bed!

Tuesday

Last week at school had been a tough week for me, and I was feeling very discouraged and exhausted with a side of burnt out from teaching. So I was so pleasantly surprised when Tuesday was a great day at school! There was even some random snow flurries on our way back from lunch so we ran outside and caught some snowflakes on our tongues!

Wednesday

I did not take a single picture on Wednesday, and I do not know why! It was such a great day! We managed to get through school at home and then had a babysitter come over to watch the kids while Theo and I went out on our monthly brunch date. Listen. We have had to find what works for us. In our 12 years of marriage, evening date nights have NEVER worked. They never feel satisfying, just stressful. We never know what to do and get frustrated at “wasting” our time. Having a babysitter that can babysit on a Wednesday morning (the only day of the week we are both home) is a game changer. We don’t need to prep any meals for the kids or worry about bedtime. Everyone is still in a good mood for the day and no one is stressed about it. We go to our favorite little brunch spot and just chat for an hour or two. It’s been a total win for us in this season.

ALSO on Wednesday, Theo got an email announcing that our school had be awarded a grant that Theo spent the better part of two weeks working HOURS on writing. He won $98,000 (not a typo- 98 THOUSAND DOLLARS) for our school to update the security systems. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is HUGE!!! I am so proud of Theo for all the work he put into it, and also so thankful that the Lord granted such a positive win to the school at a time of year when everything feels bleak and hard.

Since I didn’t take any pictures on Wednesday, here is a bonus picture on my camera roll. I was working on lighting a fire and the boys were standing right outside the baby gate that we have set up around the fire. Ezra goes – “Mom! We have butt toes!” I mean………I don’t allow potty talk or vulgar/crass language in my house, but…… he’s not wrong.

Thursday

Thursday was another good day at school, and I am so thankful. In the morning, we got to candle our classroom eggs that we have been incubating! We have 10 eggs with live chicks growing inside of them and the countdown is on to their hatch date! I am SO PRAYING that all 10 eggs will hatch on the correct date so all my students can watch them! We have already learned so much about chickens and watching them grow and I am so thrilled that we also get to keep the chicks in our classroom as well! Our school actually has a “farmstead” with chickens, bees, compost, and a garden…so the eggs incubating and hatching chicks in the classroom fit perfectly with that vibe!

And now here we are back at Friday….and it’s finally February! I saw this floating around my social media feed and I almost cried with relief!

I’m linking up with Friday Favorites, so I thought I would throw in a couple of favorite from this week as well:
