Friday Review: A Really Special Week

I know…it’s not Friday. I can’t even claim that it’s *close* to Friday. But I wanted to go ahead and publish last week’s Friday Review post. I just couldn’t publish it until my friend had announced the birth of her son, because I couldn’t recap my week without including that very special information!

But let’s go back and start on Saturday..

Saturday

I walked around our property a bit looking for green things and signs of Spring. It’s still mostly brown, but I can see lots of green growth all over! We are SO ready for Spring!

Sunday

We headed to church and then over to my parents house for lunch. That was the first Sunday I had been to church in SEVEN weeks. We had so much sickness this winter. I still had one kid who had a cough, so I kept him in the service with me instead of sending him to children’s church, but it was one step closer to being back to normal routines. We got back home around 4:30 and made a very important discovery……

NINE baby bunnies born on the homestead! Unfortunately, 5 have died, but the four we have left are doing GREAT and thriving. We have a really good Mama bunny.

Monday

Monday was a challenging parenting day. I struggle to find “wins” on days like that. But this little windowsill above Ori’s crib is where we keep his paci’s. We are starting to wean him off having it when he’s awake and he only gets it when he’s sleeping. He loves spotting them all in the window sill when its nap time šŸ™‚ Also don’t mind the awful lighting…it was a dreary day!

Tuesday

Ori’s teacher sent me this picture. She said she sets up all the chairs and then he walks around the table knocking them all down. On repeat. That sounds about accurate! He’s a mini destroyer!

On Tuesday after school I went over to Corinne’s house and made her go for a nice, long walk. It was a beautiful day so I can’t complain about that!

Wednesday

Wednesday was another beautiful day, and with Theo home we spent almost all day outside! I went over to Corinne’s house again and this time I had her walk some curbs in her neighborhood. šŸ˜‰ There is something about walking on a curb that helps move the baby down into the pelvis and somehow that tends to start labor. Meanwhile, this is what Ori looked like back at home. I promise I take pictures of all of the kids, but Ori is just so cute I have to share him šŸ™‚

Thursday

Thursday morning I woke up to a “I’m having cramps that come in waves” text from Corinne Curb walking, ya’ll. It works to start labor haha. I still went to school and taught all day, and after school I made sure to get all my stuff together for the following week. The “chicken farm club” likes to hang out in my classroom after school, playing with the chicks. Yes, Tera has a chicken on her head.

After school, I went straight to Corinne’s house and as soon as I laid my eyes upon her, I knew that I wasn’t going to be going home anytime soon. She was in good early labor patterns. We piddled around their house and I finally told them it was time to go in to the hospital. We made it to the hospital and she had the most beautiful labor and delivery – in the same room Ori was born in! My biggest regret is that I didn’t take any pictures for her. But it felt too sacred to whip out my phone and be snapping away. Birth is crazy, y’all. It’s hard and beautiful and hard and magical and hard and intimate. I feel so blessed that I was able to be there for her and Dan.

Friday

I left Thursday night before actually seeing/holding the baby, so Friday I was eager to get back and meet baby Peter and hug Corinne – I’m SO proud of how well she did. Theo even got to swing by and meet Peter. It’s really fun watching our friends become parents- and to be the old/experienced ones who can be there to help and support in this transition.

See what I mean? BEST WEEK! So full of so much joy and new life and friendship and family. And then the very next day, Orion turned ONE! So how fun is that?!?
