Orion is ONE

This just does not seem possible, does it?

How did my baby go from this:

…to this..?

Truthfully and honestly, that was the fastest year of my life. I remember the first year of Tera’s life feeling like it passed SO, SO, SO SLOWLY and it being so hard. Then comes baby #4 and it felt so joyful, he’s so easy and fun to be around and he’s already ONE. But then again, when I had my first baby, I did monthly stats on my blog, and poor Orion only got maybe two recorded monthly updates? You win some, you lose some. This is motherhood.

Here are some fun stats for Orion at one year old:

Weight: 20 pounds

Hair Status: Bald. Wispy little fuzz on the back and some on the sides. It’s very blonde and is hard to see, but there is hair there!

Teeth: He has four top teeth and two bottom teeth (I suspect a couple more bottom ones are about to pop through)

Movement: He is not walking yet, and I’m surprised! He was an early crawler at just over 6 months, and he can cruise the furniture, but he hasn’t taken much interest in standing on his own and he hasn’t taken any steps yet. He’s a FAST crawler and becoming a bit of a climber, too.

Loves: He LOVES his siblings. Loves his Dad. Loves his Mom. Loves to be outside. He loves his teacher at school in the baby room. His favorite activity in the world is either dumping, emptying or knocking over. He loves to eat and really enjoys a good nap. He’s so easygoing and content.

Dislikes: Honestly, not too much makes this kid upset. He isn’t a great sleeper and has only slept through the night maybe 5 times in the past year….? He struggles sometimes with laying down for a nap or bedtime, and he doesn’t like his initial entry into a bath. One thing I’ve noticed is that he does startle pretty easily and gets scared more than I noticed the other kids doing.

Naps/Sleep: He is still taking two solid naps a day, and he sleeps at night with 1-3 wake-ups. We co-slept up until about a month ago, and then started really sleeping him in his crib.

His 1st Birthday Party: Well, his birthday this year fell on a Saturday, and Theo had to work. We had planned to have his party Saturday night, but Theo found out early on Saturday that he would most likely be held over at work due to Trump coming to town and a big St. Patricks Day drunk-fest that was happening downtown that can get really out of hand and unruly. So I switched his party to Sunday night. We had my parents and another family friend over and kept it REAL simple. Pizza, cake and some presents. Honestly there wasn’t even decor or a theme. And you know what? Ori didn’t mind one bit. šŸ™‚

Happy Birthday to the most spoiled baby in the Hines household….we sure do love you and the immense blessing that you are to all of us!
